New guy here! Just a little introduction

Whats up everyone. My names Mike. I'm a 29 year old Volkswagen tech. from lower New York. Just yesterday, I picked up a 98 2.3 CL. Although, this is my first CL, i've been building and playing with Honda's for over 10 years. I've been through about (6) 88-91CRX's (hence the SN), a 91 Civic hatch. a 93 Civic coupe, a shitty 98 2.0 VW Jetta, and a 1992 Integra LS which was totaled earlier this month. So after all that, i ended up in CL land...haha. The car which i got is like i said, a 98 2.3 CL 5-speed. For it's age, it's got incredibly low millage (52,657 to be exact) which is what tempted me to buy it. Honestly, i always thought the 1st Gen CL's were a little goofy looking. But after thinking about it,looking in the AcuraZine photo gallery and driving it....i fell in love with it. So i figured...at this stage in my life (getting married in a few months), i should step it up a little from the usual ricer mobile. Honestly, i'm too old to be getting messed with by cops.

So my intentions with this car are too just chillout on mods and have a clean looking, long lasting vehicle. Maybe some nice wheels, a little tint, and a nice system...oh and that WW lip that some of you guys have

Anyway, here's some crappy pics from the dealer. I'll post up some pics sometime this weekend. I've learned alot on this site about my car so far, and i hope to hang out around here for a while. See you guyz around

mike

Welcome to our little world. you'll find most of the people here pretty helpful.

Check out the NOOB GUIDE for FAQ's and use the search button, but it seems like you got it down.

Its a 5-speed. Tranny shouldn't be a problem.

EDIT: Welcome, BTW

Clean as hell, should have no engine/tranny problems (for the most part) for another 150k, good buy.

Nice, with 52K and some change... On a manual... Wow, that car will run forever. Cloth is sad in a CL, but for the deal you got. HELL YEAH.

I had an 85 wagovan civic with 283K and change. I sold it to a friend and he drove it untill 302K... then twisted the cam and took a hatchet to the body. Shit, I could have rebuilt the motr. I liked that old beater. Also had a 91 Teg LS... Totaled three years ago by some ass who wasn't paying attention.

Welcome... Love the car.

Thanx for the warm welcom guys and girls. I'm from south eastern NY. It's about 15min north of Manhattan in a place called Rockland County. Anyway, not to rub it in, but i ended up paying only $5700 with tax and everything. I was actually looking at another at a different dealership ( a 98 black w/ black leather) , but it had about 130k on it and it was auto. So weighing the option of having a lower millage car w/ tan cloth, or leather/auto....i chose the tan cloth & low miles. Whatever, personaly, i don't realy like the leather anyway, so it wann't a big deal to me. And i know how bad the late 90's Honda auto's are, thats another reason i didn't get it . BTW, and i know that the gold badges need to get tossed. Thats the first thing i said when i was looking at the car...lol

Oh yeah, i read the noob stuff and can search like a champ I've been on Honda-Tech.com since 2000. Trust me, if you ask something dumb over there, you'd better have a flame suit on..haha. Let's see, so far i've gotten my alarm chirp back on, wired in my Clarion touch screen and sirius, and some other crap i can't remember. Tomorow, maybe i'll throw the playstation 2 in til my DVD player gets here. I'll snap some pics tomorow while i'm in my shop. Next few things on the list are to touch up the body (scratch's and shit like that), tint the windows, and figure out a suspension set-up. I'll update as stuff starts to progress.

Anyway, it's good to be apart of a cool site. Thanx again for the warm welcome.

later

mike

doubt it salvaged, he bought it from a legit honda dealership im sure. i work for honda and we try not to sell cars with frame or unibody damage, and we will NEVER sell a car that was salvaged or a stolen recovery. or i can assume as much for this dealership.
