New Clock Led Mod

http://cgi.ebay.com/DC-0-20A-3-BLUE-...QQcmdZViewItem

instead of the film over the clock resulting in the low light output, and pretty much your inability to see it during the day. who thinks we can hook that bad boy up in some way shape or form......discuss

Meh, it's possible. Can't find size dimensions anywhere. Seems like a pain to mod into the clock slot, good idea though. I use my rearview to read the output on my cap

I think he means to replace the clock display and use this screen as a clock, i dont think it would be too hard. i dont know if you could have a colon instead of the decimal on the display though.. dimensions are 76mm W, 36mm H, 25mm D

I have a degree in making LED devices blink the right way. Its very implausible you'd get this to work...ever. Its the wrong everything, not even close to the right device.

Move along, look for a better part here: www.digikey.com

the display is proprietary to the driver IC on the clock board. you cant just take any display and plug it into your acura clock board.

for example, if a BMW had one that was blue and you got a hold of one and swapped out the display, there is a very very slim chance that it would work straight up. it might partially work, it might not work at all, it might destroy your clock.

MAYBE if somehow they were the made by the same manufacturer it might be a common design; but even still, that's a bit of a long shot.

it would be nice, but way too difficult and time consuming.

it seems the clock is standalone, no external signals. so we would just need to find a nice display with the right size and digits and colors, along with its proper driver ic and perhaps rig up something? what would be necessary? led display + driver ic + ripple counter? and a timer ic? who wants to make me one!

ok, just tossing ideas around.....when people put that film on it dims the over all out put of the clock and makes it hard to read during the day.

Is there ayways to juice up the power or replace something (LED or other) to make the green clock brighter, then the film would work perfectly.

led displays are sealed during the manufacture process, the whole number is one solid piece with 7 or more leds inside sharing the same plastic lens. it might make more sense to open the clock and find a new set of digits with the same pin-out.

someone should take apart their clock and give me the numbers and names printed on it. digikey.com should have something for it.
