New Cd Player/Speakers

THOSE WITH NON FACTORY DECKS PLEASE READ

I just bought an alpine head unit (cda420, with tilting head, 3 pre outs and bass control ($420)) alpine V12 4 channel amp, and Alpine type R 6 1/2 components and 6X9's. We were taking a look at it at my work and notices that we just need to use speaker adapters, and use the exact same speaker wires to the speakers and thats all we would have to run. But I have a question about the head unit itself. The mounting for our factory unit is a ledge bolt on while the alpine is more of a sleeve. Should I buy an aftermarket unit, or somehow make the deck fit on the ledge! PLEASE RESPOND ON THIS THREAD or too LuckyAx2@aol.com ASAP!

I jsut installed my head unit and got a kit. It replaces the factory radio and pocket with a DIN opening and pocket (no more door on pocket).

I have see others here that I think did not use a kit, but I think for it to be secure in there, that takes quite a bit of work. I looked at it and the dash opening, and couldn't really find a way to do it good, so I went and got the kit. The kit has the same 2 bolt bracket that comes off the pocket. In all actuality, the aftermarket install kit is more secure than the factory set up. Once you mount it, slide in the sleve for your new HU, and bend the tabs out, you get upper support at the radio we don't get on the factory mount.

The only thing I do not like about the aftermarket mounting kit is that the radio trim ring sits flush on the kit, which is just a hair back from the wood trim itself. So all in all, your face plate sticks off the kit/trim about 1/2" (depending on the depth of your face plate), but it's not bad, still looks good. I jsut wish I could have flushed the face withthe trim like the factory radio. You can do this on cars that have side brackets the bot to the car and radio.

Thanks Acura for a shitty mount!!!

Ok I ran all new wires and bought the mounting piece. Before I put in my headunit I want to double check on some things.
1.) Where do I put the remote turn on for the amp? On the power attena wire?
2.) Since I removed the BOSE amp, how will my head unit be powered and grounded? The wiring harnesses I bought hooked up perfectly to the old BOSE input and the head unit, but I am afraid that the bose amp powered these... WHAT DO I DO!?

THe Bose amp has it's own power. The harness you tapped behind the radio has all you need, power, ground, ignition, speakers, etc. You could have just tapped into the full harness, and then patched the in wires to the out wires at the amp to bypass it.

OK I have the harness that attaches to the bose adapter and to the alpine. But how is that gonna run the speakers? Should I just run new speaker wire? It is very easy to do the 6X9's but how do you run new wires to the door speakers?
