It should fit no problem, are you sure you have the right product? Try putting on the filter after you have the intake tube installed or try turning the tube a little bit to get a different angle.

If it's a true CAI, then yes, the filter will fit down in the wheel well area (sorta under the car).

Turn your wheels to one side. You'll need to gain access under the car (wheel well area) in order to stick the filter in. Then connect it to the end of the CAI.

I've not put one in a 2.2/2.3, but in the 3.0 you have to remove some of the plastic clips in order to peel back the wheel well enough to fit the filter in. Then attach it to the CAI pipe.

Click on the link in my signature, and look for my CAI. This should give you an idea of how the CAI filter looks, once installed.

You should NOT need to put it on a jack. You can gain access to the wheel well area, just by turning your wheels to one side or the other. Becareful removing the clips, They consist of a cylinder inside of a larger cylinder, Just pry the center area out about an 1/8" to 1/4", then pry the whole thing out by the outer edge. You may need to remove one or two bolts under the car to completely gain access to the engine compartment, but just try removing the clips.

The bypass valve goes in the middle of the pipe.

Someone just posted a pic of their CAI. I'll look for it, and poste it here.

the filter goes in ur wheel well. and to use a bypass u have to cut a peice of tubing out. dont use the bypass unless ur gonna drive trough 1 ft deep puddles. i had mine for 2 years and drive through the rain all the time. my car is also dropped about 1.5"

Here's a pic of Casper's CL with bypass valve: http://images.fotki.com/v1/free/3a2d.../CL-CAI-or.jpg.

It's installed, right at the bend.

I didn't notice much power increase when I replaced my Ractive Short Ram with my current CAI. Remember you're only talking about a few HP gain from a short ram to a CAI. A dyno may show some increase in power, but I didn't see any difference on the track.
