i used to work for big o tires and nankook and federal tires are the cheapest you can go, i would use a kuhmo over a nonkook or a federal anyday. i am currently running nittos on the front and dunlops on the back. i like the tread on the dunlop sport w-10's and the nittos are a v shape tread i like the dunlop cause they have from wicked tread but i wouldnt get nonkook of federal i would spend the extra and get dunlop or some nittos. you talking about 20 buck more a tire ill see if i can get prices for you, let me know what size tire and what size rim you need and ill look it up

my 2 35 tires are worn, so i'm contemplating on whether to get 2 cheap 35 tires, or just upgrade everything to 40s on 18 inch wheels. i guess kuhmos would be my best bet. how much can u get them for? (4)225/40/18 and (2)215/25/18... thanks

I actually have the Hankook Ventus Tires on my car, and I have no complaints about them. They are better than the Falken's I have had in the past.

I say get what you want. I do know that next time I buy tires I probably will go with the Sumitomo all season tires.

Kuhmo's from all my previous experience always always bubbles... I have Nankang 35 series tires and I love them... you don't even know I have tires.. and no problems as of yet......

Good luck with your decision

kumho street tires arent that great. once you start getting into the R-comps and racing tires they get much better.

if you want good tires with good traction get Yokahama's. Paradas are awesome tires, but a little soft on the tread so if you're an agressive driver all the time, i wouldnt reccomend them.
Yokohama A520's are also pretty good tires.

What about Douglas Tires? I got one when I had a blow-out during a roadtrip. They sell them at WalMart for like $68/ea and they're H-rated. So far they have performed very well. I have them on the front and ride comfort and noise is normal....no different than the Michelin's. And it has handled well during this past winter.

I just bought a set of 225 40 18 nitto 555 extremes for my new setup and they are f a b o l o u s! I love the ride, and they are only a tad louder than the stock MXV4's on 16's. Awesome cornering and i havent broken them free yet. IMO, everyone on here has the 712's, so i copped the nitto's to be different. For a few extra bucks, its worth it.

the cl is meant to run nothing less than a v rating tire, i have z rated tires all around. better grip and better when you get to high speeds on freeways. h rated you will feel woobllyness on the freeway if you go over 100 cause the tire cant hadle over i believe 93 i think mph the z rating is rated up to 150 i think.

jamolie: i checked with my hookup today and the 4 - 225/40/18's will run you about $460 in kuhmo but that is installed and balenced with the tire shop. this gives you something to go by. hope it helps.

H is to 130. V to 149. W to 168. Y to 186mph. W and Y are sometimes noted as Z or ZR but typically have extra designations behind 'em.

i'm runnin some 225/40/18 nankangs and racing hart C2's on my 2.3 and i haven't had any problems. wanted to get a better tire but got a phat hook on these ones from my friends shop. paid $240 for all 4 mounted and balanced and all.... next time tho i'm thinkin bout goin with 225/35/18 toyo proxes or yokahama prada spec II coz i think the 40's are a tad bit big. plus my car is dropped a couple inches and the 40's rub. never had kumhos but never heard anything too bad bout them...

I just bought a set of the Nitto Extreme Performance 555's (225 40ZR 18--from discounttiredirect.com ) . I paid exactly $4.00 MORE (total) for these over a set of Kuhmo 712's!!!!

I look forward to getting them mounted on Thursday!

I will no longer promote Kuhmo's! :thumbsdn:

apparently, my back 2 tires (toyo proxes 215/35/18) are leaking air or something...i've put air in them twice this week. that sucks ass. funny thing is that i've never heard anything bad about kuhmos until this thread. i think i'll just go with the cheaper nankang or hankook tires for now. so far, no one has any complaints, so it can't be that bad!

The new wheel package I just got came with the Kumho ECSTA 711, which sucks cause I at least wanted the 712's like I had on my last wheel set.

The tread isn't as aggressive and when I checked the price difference and speed rating on tirerack there is a definate performance rating and price.

When I ordered them the guy couldn't tell me for sure which Kumho I would get, but I was getting a good deal on the package and really wanted the rim so I ordered not knowing for sure what Kumho they would send me.

The good thing that was rated on this tire was the tread life is supposed to be better than the 712....but we'll see how they ride this weekend after I put them on.
