My heat/AC smells!
I have a 99 3.0CL that I've only had for about 2 weeks. The car has 72,000 miles and is all stock.
I usually leave the Climate Controll at about 75-80 on auto. Lately, I've noticed the air that it's blowing smells. It has this nasty like, sweaty feet smell. It has an Acura certified vechile warrenty, but before I take it in I wanted to see if anyone knows what may be wrong.
Anyone else have this problem?

And yes, it has been raining quite a bit. But it didn't rain yesterday and the air still smelled.

yeah man real estate comes #1 in my opinion as well, plus the CL is a pretty classy car for the price. people are amazed when i tell them how little i paid for mine.
hmm. well the only other time i've heard someone say that their vents stank was when one of my friends discovered a mouse nest in their vents. the babies died and were giving off the stench but i doubt thats your case. did you try posting this on honda-tech as well? they usually have faster and more responses to threads

I had the same problem in one of my other vehicles. No matter what I did the smell was still there. Just like you said stinky gym socks. My friend is a tech at a dodge dealership and he told me to get a can of Lysol and find your air inlet for the ac/heater. Run the system for a little bit, but make sure that the temp is set right in the middle not hot and not cold. Spray a bunch of Lysol into the inlet and keep running it for a little while until the smell goes away. You may also want to try using both the fresh air and the re-circulated air settings just to make sure. The smell is usually associated with condensation built up in the system and there is nothing you can do about it.

We had a truck that we found out (later on) had been involved in a flood. Unfortunately it was too late by then. That's the exact kind of odor we were getting from the ventilation system. We were eventually forced to sell it.

Dont we have cabin air filters?? I mean my moms TL has it, the RL, and the explorer. You may have to replace that. I heard that if they get clogged, that you start getting some funky smells inside the car...

One custom CL
Take it to the dealer. They have a system to sanitise the airways.
What happens is that you get condensation, especially in the summer. That condensation smells after a while. I have read that the dealership runs a tiny line inside the piping and sprays a antibacterial cleaner which eliminates the old nasty smell.
Good luck. Hope they dont charge you an arm and a leg. Last time I checked (a few years ago) they were charging $75 if im not mistaken.
