My DIY Project

I decided to change my brake pads/rotors and shocks/springs on my 1st gen 2.2. The cheapest estimate I received from a service shop was $650 to change the front brake rotors and pads. So, you can imagine what the remaining cost looks like; rather than being raped by the local shops I decided to change everything myself. Obviously, the rear brake pads/rotors were an easy change as were the rear shocks/springs, not one seized bolt. And now for the front, we all know what's in store here... the passenger side gave me a good fight but I got everything changed, with a little help from my friend Sili Kroil and previous posts. Everything was going fine, I was starting to believe you guys were exaggerating about the difficulty with dealing with the hub-over rotor design. All that's left is the driver front side, and I will be finished at last... oh not so fast my friend! This is were my hell begins... the drive axle has seized onto the hub assembly and will not move an inch. I sprayed it with kroil, pounded it with dead blows with no luck at all. Before I reach for my sawzall and cut this S.O.B. to pieces, I am asking for a little help from my friends... yes you guys.

Yea I know the $650 estimate is looking cheap now.

get some estimates on how much it would be to finish the job - you're already past half way there man. should be hella cheaper now.

lee's auto tech did my pads and rotors for 80

Damn the shops in DC are no joke..all that together brakes, rotors, pad, springs and shocks should run $500 total. The hardest part is changing the springs because that is a bitch to do.
