From my cold dead hands
With all the members on here selling or trading their CL's, I just wanted to say that I'm still here, I still own my 1G CL, and I'm not planning to sell it. I realize this is an old car, and we have a large turnover rate for members in here moving on to bigger and better things, but I know there's a few OG's out there that are keeping with their goals and are keeping their CL's. I want those guys to chime in and let me know what the status of their builds are and who is sticking with their CL. I dont' want this thread to be whored up about how great your new non-CL car is, this thread is for the OG's that are keeping their CL. So many getting rid of my CL threads, I think we need one for all the old timers like myself to update on their builds and projects and let us know that they're still kicking and what they're up to. At least as much as their willing to divulge to the populous.

I'm completely with this! No way i'll let go of my CL. People like us have that REAL love for 1st Gens! I have a lot to update, let me conjure up my list to post on here. I also think we should make some guidelines for this thread, as to keep the "its just my DD" and "i just got clear corners and a prokit" people out of a thread for SERIOUS CL builds

Warning to fellow CL'ers. Do not take personal offense, but as a diehard CL owner since '03 i will be regulating on u if u post BS in this thread. We wanna see REAL CL DEDICATION.
Thas whassup! Keep the CL alive!
Move on?! After interior and wheel fitment?! Well the GTFO. Not what this thread is for.

A little taste of my CL's lineup:
Bored and sleeved by AEBS
Custom rechamfered and knife edged crank
all new suspension components from bushings to coils
finishing new brakes
new seats and steering wheel
refurbished interior pieces
painted wheels with new toyo proxes or something similar
...get the picture people?

Well, I'm nowhere near an OG, nor have I done a ton of work to the CL, but the projects I have done have been rather intensive in nature, and I plan for them to continue that way. Chris, I'm already expecting my GTFO, but I'll go ahead and post this list anyway.
Audio:
2 XS Power D3100s
4 runs of Shok Industries 1/0 CCA wire
Beefier subs (eventually) to take the abuse all day long.
Visual:
TSX Retrofit, likely buying a kit from theretrofitsource.com.
Seeing as my CL is not going to be my DD here in a couple days, I should have more money to put into it to finish this list faster, and get on to bigger and better projects... Hopefully something that nobody's ever done, but with the OG's that came before me, that's highly unlikely...

As for keeping the CL, I plan on keeping it at least till I'm out of college (another 3+ years) and then turning it into something along the lines of a show car, but with a big audio system to boot. I'm kinda thinking 12 10s, and 1200-1500w per sub. Should be very interesting to say the least...

lol, the cars isn't worth anything with 330,000kms on it. luckily i've spent over 10g's on the thing in the 32ish months i've had it.
but yeah, it stays. although i might be buying a subaru tomorrow so it may become the non-winter car.

Well I'm certainly no OG. Haven't even really done much to the CL. But it looks like I'm a lifer. With all this money in it, and a 4year/100k mile warranty, there's no reason to ever sell it. It will never be worth anything, but I'll always love it.

Sold my '97 3.0 CL to my neice this past summer and "upgraded" to a 4G TL. After being without my TL for literally months while the dealer fixes some BS issues, I can say from experience the 1G CL was a better quality car. May not have had the power, features, size, or tech of the 4G TL, but I didn't have to deal with any of these BS issues. Miss my CL.

Yep, exactly what I was looking for, but of course this thread is going nowhere. This thread is meant for guys who have been building their CL's to chime in. Cocoa, dainf, kumar, arber, where are all you guys? Let's hear some updates

One custom CL
My CL is def a life long keeper. I just need to watch the rust if I want to keep her alive. Its been a long jouner making so many memories since 03. Even though I've put well over 25k into her the dream of having the CL lives on. Project is still ongoing with only a small delay like a wedding. She should be ready sometime next year. No details. It will be shown when its done. Pictures speak louder than words.

One custom CL
I might not be going stroker. Seems like there is more to lose than gain. I will not be able to rev past 6000 rpm and life span of engine is drastically shortened. Dont worry. Its still going to be a nasty beast.

hell, I just got my re-enlistment bonus, time for new paint, leather, and some new wheels. Plus, I'm moving to Florida, so dark tint for me! I haven't done too much to her, but now that I'm in some better money, I can buy another car for the DD and finally do what I want to my car.

im hoping to move to florida too in a couple years.
as far as my CL goes, i'll be keeping her for a while. shes the perfect car for me right now, and it only has 78k miles on it. unless i hit the lotto or something i wont be doing any major modding to her, but i will be keeping her for another 5-6 years, maybe longer

lol right on guys
after I get this tranny rebuilt (for hopefully around 1500 or so) the car is gonna stay in my possession forever. honesty with that out of the way, it makes a dope little fucking daily driver or weekend project car, even if I do decide to upgrade in the future

Three Wheelin'
I'm not really an OG, but here's a bit of an update and future plans.
Had to take the CL to a Honda mechanic to get the ECU figured out. The H23VTEC swap is a bit more involved than I had anticipated. I want the car to pass NC inspection so it has to stay OBD2. The car either needs a PCB ECU from the F20B, an OBD2 H22 ECU and somehow bypass the immobilizer or mod the F22 ECU. The Honda mechanic wants to mod the F22 so I'm going to let him do his thing. I'm just worried the air fuel map, VTEC crossover and fuel cutoff will be incorrect for this motor.
I also picked up a nice Tri-Y header, Apexi WS2 exhaust and I'm installing my old CarSound hi-flow cat from my Civic. Next I plan picking up a set of 17's, doing the rotor over hub conversion with Legend GS 2 piston caliper swap. I also have a heated seat kit to install when I buy a 98-99 center console.
Look for all these things to happen this year and possibly even a TSX HID retrofit. Also want to give DaInFaMMuS1 a big thanks for his input on the H23 ECU. If the F22 ECU doesn't work, I atleast know which direction to go in.
