My CL Re-Build......
To anyone who cares as to why i'm posting this is because i want to thank a lot of people here that i have no idea who you are and have helped me in this process. THANK YOU.... I painted my car about 5 months ago and come to realize that the people did the shittiest job ! i sold my wheels after that and my car pretty much started falling apart after. Winshield cracked, passenger H.I.D. blew out, subs blown, chipping paint, shocks never got installed with springs, car is lower on driver side than passenger side with springs,My brembo rotors are GARBAGE, i'm driving with a 2001 honda stock on one side, pretty much going to SHIT!.....As a lot of people on here say "I got Inspired again."
As far as what i've done:
fixed my system, added a 3500 watt Monoblock, Sounds sick as hell, i took off my bumper for fitment for something that's coming in, (can't say yet what it is) and i wetsanded my headlights and taillights. The car right now is getting prepped up for paint. i'm thinking of going with a pearl black or something a little different other than normal black. I'm installing my shocks tomorrow and hopefully by friday i get my new rotors in. I landed a set of 18" racing hart c2's that i don't know yet if i'm gonna keep them. But if i do they're going matte black. there you have it for now......
For any of you who care i will post up progress pics as the build goes on and keep posted. better pics also will come sorry for these i know they suck

Black: I Landed this set throug a guy on craigslist, he had two sets and i was able to get it at a steal. If i do decide to keep them they are DEFINATELY going to go matte black, but we will see what happens after the paint job is done.
on1wheel: I sold the wheels for 600.00 with tires. they were in the black market for about a month or so. They were 18" oz's in gunmetal. Sharp looking wheel.

Glad to see u got reinspired! its easy to say f it when you're driving a 10 year old car thats falling apart, but its such a great satisfaction when you stick with it and have a unique car that turns heads. Good luck, can't wait to see the car n C2's painted!

^oh ya, i was wondering why no one had seen it, all i did was search "java" and it came up with two threads started by h20.
To the OP: For the paint i suggest going with something that will go along with your paint scheme, if you're going for black and blue, try to get some blue flake in the paint. Or if you're just going black everywhere, get something with minimal flake, cuz i've seen a lot of cars that have a lot of flake that just look dumb. Mine sometimes has too much flake in it in certain lighting conditions, but overall i like it quite a bit, and a plus is that it shows dirt less than when i had the stock paint. BTW mine is painted Black Sapphire Metallic from BMW
or as i said to someone else in another thread about getting ideas for colors, just go to a bunch of dealerships when the weather is nice and see which ones you like, and get it painted like that, that's how i chose mine

^i would but there's no point, my camera is pretty crappy (a casio) and doesn't really pick up my flake, hopefully i'll get some new pics one of these days when my buddy with a DSLR and i do a photoshoot. And maybe he can take some upclose pics of my paint. Cuz all my pics right now don't look any different than what a flamenco black CL would be, and it's kinda stock too
here's a link to what my car looks like, can't really see the flake in any pics anyways
https://acurazine.com/forums/showpos...&postcount=840
to the OP: why not paint the wheels the same time as the car and paint them the same color instead of making one glossy and one matte finish? IMO it would look cool to have other things paintmatched too, aslong as you could easily tell the black was different

To infamous : I know exactly what you mean, I honestly said F**k it for a long time and i hate to see it go to shit.
Ghetto Ninja : My headlights were pretty bad, I tried that cheap shit at the auto part store but all i did was waste 20 dollars. I grabbed 800 grit and polished it at 1800 rpm's and it came out brand new.
Lipstuhs paint looks nice as shit but i would hate to copy something that someone else already did. Not saying that's it's not nice enough to do but the same way you did something unique i would also like to do. I'm leaning toward painting the car another color for some reason. Black on Black is played out, at least everyone here in Miami has it or has had it at some point in their lives. I'm thinking of doing an anthracite with purple flakes or something crazy like that....And matching the color to the wheels.....I don't know we'll see what happens. here are some pics of the wheels, i'm starting to prep the up for paint. I used aircraft remover to take off the gold as well as the powder coat of black it has. In case anyone notices, the wheels came from factory 5 x 114.3 and 4 x 114.3 Which is very hard to find nowadays. Well here are some pics....

Help and suggestions
Hi guys,
Since we're at the subject of customizing a Black 2.3CL, I thought I'd ask everyone's thoughts. I would say I'm a newbie at customizing this particular car as it's pretty much stock. I'm thinking of getting 18" wheels and a KYB AGX adjustable shocks/struts. I just came from looking at a set of 18" with 225/40-18s on them and it looked like they might rub on the suspension arm, not sure what is called exactly, front and back. Then, I was thinking, if I lower it, it would be even worse? What are everyone's thoughts on this. Maybe the guy who is re-building his CL has any thoughts, since part of the car is already done? Thanks for any help.

depends on how far you drop, but I'm dropping 2.5-3" with those size tires
Try checking out the n00b guide in the main forum also, or the wheel and tire forum

Black did you ever get that size on with stock suspension?
I'm putting 225/40 18s on 18x7.5 wheels and I'm curious what kind of gap you saw (if you ever had that size on with a stock suspension)

When I hit any form of a bump my shit rubs. I took out the inner fender liner, the black rubber piece that goes around out because for some reason that was causing a lot of rubbing.
