Question My CL is possessed

So for the past week my 2.3CL has been acting weird.

I can take the keys out of the ignition and it stays running... gauges, and VTEC controller stays on and can still drive it without any keys but radio, windows, sunroof don't have power without the keys. Sometimes it eventually shuts off on its own after a min or two... other time you have to put the keys back in and turn it back and forth a couple times to get it to shut off. I'm just curious if anyone else has had this issue and what you did to solve it... It just started doing this probally about 2 weeks ago

edit

it doesn't do it everytime... probally like one out of five

Sounds like you need the ignition switch recall done, or the ignition switch replaced

Can I take it to a Honda dealer and have them do the recall?? The nearest Acura dealer is in Bloomington, MN which is a 4 hour drive...

Nevermind.... I think i got it figured out now

Recall Date:
OCT 27, 2003

Model Affected:
1999 ACURA CL

Summary:
ON CERTAIN PASSENGER VEHICLES AND MINI VANS, THE IGNITION SWITCH MAY WEAR EXCESSIVELY AND PREVENT PROPER INTERLOCK OPERATION, MAKING IT POSSIBLE TO TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO THE ¿OFF¿ POSITION AND REMOVE THE KEY WITHOUT SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION TO "PARK."

Consequence:
IF THE VEHICLE OPERATOR DOES NOT SHIFT TO "PARK" BEFORE REMOVING THE KEY AND FAILS TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE, THE VEHICLE COULD ROLL AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL PERFORM AN INSPECTION PROCEDURE THAT DETERMINES THE AMOUNT OF CYLINDER BODY WEAR. IF SIGNIFICANT WEAR IS INDICATED, THE DEALER WILL REPLACE THE CYLINDER BODY, COLLAR, AND LATCH PLATE. IF NO SIGNS OF WEAR ARE INDICATED, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE LATCH PLATE WITH A REDESIGNED PART. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN DECEMBER 8, 2003. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

I believe honda can do it to, I would call them and find out first, also make sure you mention the recall so they can look it up

Called the Acura 1-800 number and they have refered it to a case manager to see if they can do it at the Honda dealer. The lady on the phone said based off the VIN number it looks like the recall hasn't been done yet. Now just have to wait for them to call me back and give the ok
