Muffler Noise

Can anyone help me about getting a new muffler? Mine has a hole and so I need to get a new one. Can I do it myself? What's the best way to save money? Thanks!

I would recommend getting a quality muffler off of eBay, and have it installed on your stock piping or have custom piping made at the muffler shop.

I bought my muffler/custom piping from NOMAD (a-cl.com member) who hade it custom made for $200:

hey those look pretty good, wat is the exhaust size and piping. I got my CL at a used dealership last month. I should have known, it looks like my exhaust/pipe was replaced by the cheapest POS they could have found. A super narrow ass pipe looks like a 1 inch and ghetto muffler, so now every time i get into 2000 rpm, i get this giant reverb. So i plan to upgrade to something little better, not loud but deep. Thanks

There are many threads that talk about the pros and cons of mant different mufflers. Unfortunately, the "search" function is not really working well.

Try this as a start: http://search-desc.ebay.com/search/s...ler&srchdesc=y

Keep in mind that alsmot any universal muffler should fit. the main decision will be based on price and sound.

You could also post a thread asking for input and recommendations on different brands.

Mine is VERY loud w/ a deep resonance! Louder than I like at times, but I'm still pleased.

The $200 I spent covered all materials (muffler, piping, and hangers) and installation. Muffler shops usually don't charge much, but you can always ask upfront. It will really depend on prices in your area.
