Great. I'm leaving school and at a stoplight at the end of the campus parking lot and some dumbass bitch girl rear ends me. The night before homecoming my bumper looks like shit now...
worst case i need a new bumper.. best case i need it repainted, any idea how much either should run? Also what is the best way to go about collecting the money.. i know this girl and have many witnesses to her dumbass hitting me. I'm thinking im going to tell her it cost $200 more than it actually does to make up for my troubles, if she refuses then il have a nice talk with her insurance company.

Well its been awhile..nearly a month but i finally collected the money from her. $351.60 to be exact
I got 2 quotes to fix the damage, 1 from a local shop for about $350 and another from the dealership for about $550. I know if i search around i can find a place to get it done for about $200-250, but i was debating as to weather or not i should attempt to a DIY.. my dads business has all the tools for painting (his company has 40 full fledged painted vans bright purple) and i have some pretty knowledgeable friends when it comes to bodywork.
Suggestions / tips?

Also, he's only had the new bumper for three months.

well previously i was rear ended and the place that put on a new bumper/painted it did a "maaco" paint job...cheap and easily crack/chipable..now i did not know this until i was hit again. Sure enough the place where i had it done previously has gone out of business (big surprise)

Well a cheep paint job will get ya buy for awhile until A) you get hit in the painted area or B) you have the paint job long enough to wear it out. But like i said even if you get hit with a good paint job its gonna chip/crack/scratch/whatever.

Which is not a scratch or gouge.
