Thumbs up Might be/Got a CL!!

well guys, after a VERY long search for a 88-91 4WS prelude, which was going to be my daily driver replacement for my 4runner.

after a yet another break down of my 4runner last week, I've decided to buy a friend of mine's CL.

Its a 99 2.3 5spd, its the light blue color on black. ~74k. Pretty Clean inside and out.

I'm not new to the Acura family at all. I've got a noice 6spd legend coupe, its my baby but i don't want to drive to in the winter (which is what my 4runner was for).

here's a few shots of the Legend for you lovers out tehre....

I can keep posting these all day, LOL.

I'm big into photography, infact, I can't wait for the first CL photoshoot!

I'm usually pretty good with cars, being a ASE cert tech (with no job at the moment) I tend to work on all my cars myself and try to help others (on the forums) with problems.

I'm really excited about the CL, its gonna be a GREAT change from my 90 4runner which was also a 5spd.

Hopefully tomorrow after class she'll be mine.

I don't plan on modding it too much. although I don't think i can live with out a short shifter, i looked at the Pspec short shifter, with their boot and knob. its pretty nice.

probably end up getting sway bars, being that i'm used to driving a race car, which is what my legend is, too me. I autox it. its really a nice coupe (the legend ), so yea sways and maybe other suspension mods, but i wont lower it, it wont be good for the winter. although some coilovers lifted to stock ride height no, no, no, i'm not modding the crap out this car (jsut yet) but yea some accord sways i hear work. i saw a few for sale on ebay, which do u guys recommend? i saw the SUSPENSION TECHNIQUES sway on ebay. i've heard good things about them.

also found some blacked out bumper lights, probably gonna black out the tails, get some hella fog lights (i have a set on my legend and love em) and probably 6300k HID's (can't live with out HID's once u have a set)

anyways this is my sotry and i'm sticking to it, i hope to make a positive impact and be a productive member of this community. (thats what my track record over at acura-legend.com will show too) I really was gonna wait to make this post until i got the car but its 150% that i'm getting it. i'm done driving the 4runner, since i fixed it and its running fine atm, so its been put up for sale.

ALEX

Another 4runner/CL driver eh? Welcome to the forums, I have an 03 4runner as my daily and the CL in the garage. Also have the suspension techs sways and they're fantasic, one of the biggest sways you can get for our cars, and fit perfect no modifications. Suspension mods to the CL are a must, but glad to see you know your way around the legend anyway cuz the CL replaced the legend. Hope you get it

yea, i've got like everything done to the legend, quality strut bar, rear ties (short and long bars) also quality stuff, made by a guy on the legend forums, also addco rear sway bar, Ksport Coilovers, plus front and rear camber kits. I just want the CL to handle a little better then OEM.

thanx for the welcome!

here;s a few shots of the 4runner for u lovers

i've had some other more recents shots, but i can't seem to find it in my photobucket

yessir!! both G1 legends and G2's (like mine) have rear windows that roll down. On the G2 coupes the doors suck in when closing (kinda like MB's do)

I'm diggin the tails, i saw a pic on here of someone with blacked out tails on a light blue CL. it looked good. I've had tinted tails on my legend for a while but switched back to redo them

did i mention i'm obsessed with taking pics of my cars???

Welcome!!!! Nice 2-dr legend - that was the car that first got me into acuras. I still think it's sexier and more badass than anything in the line now imho. What is with the rear quarter in that first pic?

Pics of the CL when you get it!

i had my quater panels redone. they were all rusted and banged up. now they are both fiberglass. This winter going to be repainting the whole car deep/triple matte black. the quater panels are just primered at the moment, i also shaved the antenna.

yea, i've read in the noob guide the calipers. yea yea, being a senior member on acura-legend.com i kno to research/posts I was wondering if it was worth putting on the single piston calipers b/c i have a set laying around. I used to have a spare typeII dual piston set but sold it.

I don't take my 4runner ofroading, its not in the condition for it. I love the truck but i can't offered the crappy performance and crappy mpg (even after a full tune up) plus its other issues. BUT hell, the truck has 161k original clutch! v6 engine is SO strong. trans is excellent. It has other issues like steering, brakes, some other crap i'm tried of dealing with.

I used to have a 02 durango with a 4.7 v8, i took it off roading at 2 weeks old (back when it brand new in 02, haha) i've fucked that up too many times so i never did it in the 4runner. I was trying to buy a 01 5spd but its too much money for me atm. maybe next winter.

Don't worry all. once i have the CL, except ALOT of photos, probably whore the gallery so much, you'll wish i didn't keep posting awesome pics

welcome! 15s without a drop doesn't looks good on the CL, someone on here put the white ITR 15" wheels on his CL and took them off real quick.

But lightweight 15s will make the car much more nimble than stock, so it depends on whether you want performance or look.

glad to see so much enthusiam for the cl, but youll definitely want a drop on it, even a modest one, stock wheel gap is huuuugggee. too bad you gave up on the prelude, i got one now, instead of the CL, a 4th gen...amazing car

I have to admit, that is one of the cleanest black Type II 6spd Legend Coupe I've seen! What kind of mods do you have? I've always liked those cars, so keep the pics coming! Oh and good luck with the CL; they're great daily drivers.

Those Legends are so sick. I always wondered why they went from a 240 Hp v6 6spd to a 200 hp 3.0 auto..

Yeah. to me it's almost like the 1g cl is misplaced between the legend and the 2g cl in terms of proportions and power. I don't really get it. Almost like the 2g CL should have come right after the legend based solely on size and numbers.

I never thought that made any sense either, not to mention we got jipped on a 6 spd or any MT, but they went right back to it in the 2nd gen, for one whole year.

I used to have a 89 4WS [RIP]

a friend of mine wrecked it, nearly 2 years ago

thanx! oh man, short list, custom rebuilt motor (by me), full exhaust, pretty much ALL the suspension mods, a whole bunch of interior mods. wait, here watch this video

and when you're done, might as well watch this video

the number suck only b/c its a shitty school dyno.

yea, i've always felt honda/acura fucked up when they stoppped making the legends and when to RL's and then made the new coupe CL's smaller and TL based instead of a RL base like b4. non-the-less I'm super excited about getting the TL, to me its like getting a nicer, more luxuries prelude. its no Flagship coupe like the legend was. i kno 15's might look small but its only for the winter, and you guys are right the does need a drop but i want to leave it as high as possible to treserve the snow covered streets of chicago when it happens and it will.

THANX ALL for the warm welcome!

yeah Matt and I both had 15's on our CL's at 1 point. I LOVE how fast and nimble the car is with them on when they're accompanied by the drop, it was way quicker. But they didn't fill the wheel wells and looked kinda funny. I think they'll look even more peculiar and out of place with a CL with no drop. I was gonna sell mine, but decided to keep them for auto cross use w/some falken azenas tires on them.

Wow those vids sound super sexy! The dyno #'s do look funny though, 312tq 184hp is a big difference. And how does it jump from 312 to 173?

it doesn't jump. you have to look at the lower number in both tq and hp. its what was printed on the graphs. the highest it put down to the wheels was 184hp/173tq, it was a mustang dyno. I'm gonna run it on a dynojet soon, (thats after i save up some more moneyz since i'm spending it all on the CL, later today! WootWoot!!). anyways on a dynojet its gonna put down atleast 204hp/193tq.

yea, also i htink with 15's it'll look odd, maybe instead of spending moneyz on the wheels, i'll just buy new winter tires for the 16's.

anyone looking for a set of 15' winter tires?? 205/65/15

Welcome man. Can't wait to see pics of the CL, you'll love it to death. The Legend is sick as anything my friend, I like what you did with it. A kid at my school drives one, but it's nowhere close to yours.

Good to have you on the boards!

mods! can u change the title of the thread from "might be" to "i got a"

anywayz, i picked up the CL tonight.

i kno, i kno, i promised pictures, so here the teaser :P

anyone have a driver side window regulator for sale? i need one asap. also passenger side taillight would be sick.

well, i'll post some better pics, along with probably a mini photoshoot while at work tomorrow.

I already i like this car (its not the first time i've driven it, i've driven it for extended periods in the past) but coming from my legend and 4runner, i've defiantly already tried putting the car into 6th, 6th is AWESOME on these cars. **grinddddd*** lol. 120mph was quicker then i though (for a 3000lbs 4cyl. not bad at all, of course this goes with out saying my legend will toast it for breakfast with 4 tires low on air anyday, but thats beside the point. :P

jk guys, i'm gonna love this car very soon. glad to here on the forums, you'll defiantly be seeing me here VERY often.

sweeeeeeeet! looks good from here lol.

Check the Black Market threads for parts - window regs aren't that common but you might find a taillight.
