May be running my car at Moroso this friday!
I hear they're doing free runs this friday so I want to go up and see what this thing can do.
First time I'll ever take my cyclone blue to a track... i need some tips! How should I prep the car for the runs?
Im a total when it comes to this, so if any of the more experienced CL'ers can chime in please...

take a bag of ice, some use 2, and put one wrapped in a towel on the manifold and one on the intake next to the TB to get some nice cold air running in there
thats what ive been told be some people and seen it done in sacramento so i dont know
then again i have a 3.0

Here's what I do...
Take 2 extra wheels that are smaller and lighter (If you run bigger than stock)
A jack to change the wheels.
Tire pressure guage to lower tire pressure.
Some tools to remove the passanger seat...or anything else if ya want.
Same tools to remove the power steering belt.
Plan on getting there with about a 1/4 tank of gas.
Bring some octane booster.
If you wanna get crazy, gut the interior, remove side mirrors and windshield wipers, and remove the passanger side headlight to create an opening for the intake.
Can't think of anything else.
Damn, this makes me miss racing so much.

So why give yourself a false representation of your car's ability. Sure, take out the spare and any loose crap, but leave the interior alone. You are only gonna run a couple of times. Lot of wasted time on pulling stuff you would not normally pull. Get an octane booster, make sure the tank is at around a quarter. Clean and charge your air filer. Make sure the engine is well tuned. As for technigue, start out in D3, then when the car shifts into 2nd, move the shifter to D2. then shift up at your best shift points. If you have a 3.0, let it out to around 6000 rpms then shift. If you have a 2.2 or 2.3 manual, then shift around 6250 rpms. Last but not least, put your safety and that of the other drivers first, and have fun.

hmm... lots of this stuff sounds a little extreme, but things like the spare + any spare things inside the car I can do... I just filled up the tank so I'll just run it around a little today and then we'll see what happens tomorrow... I wonder how much it would $$$ to get a quick tune up before I go...
Moto, you're a fucking nut! lolol...
thanks, I was going to ask about this.
not too sure, but I'll be running 1/4 miles on it.
what should I be expecting from my car guys? I want to hit high 15's somewhere, but not sure if thats in the cards for me right now. Im running on intake, exhaust, headers, and pulleys w/stock tires and short shifting... I wont be gutting the car out at all (except for, like I said, the spare probably and stuff thats already inside...)
I've also been told that three runs should cover me. More than that, and it might be too much for the car...

is moroso a 1/4 mile strip or a ssca track?

3.0 will pull mid 15s, maybe a high 14, but the 2.2 is not gonna do that unless it has the h22 swap with the light-weight fky wheek abd no junk in the trunk. You could prolly spend around $75 for a nice tune up. And yes, practice your launch.
#15
def practice the launch i launch at 3 1/2 and it keeps the wheel hop down and im satified with that
and shiney launches around three cuz i asked him a while ago so try
3
3 1/2
and try it at 4 cuz i did a burn out the other day at 4 and they spun but gripped very well and pulled nicely so yeah

if you use two smaller diameter tires in the front than the rear, you could have abs problems.(abs thinks the front tires are spinning faster than the rears (which they are), and locks up the front brakes on hard breaking.) and thats not what you want when your goin 100mph.
#21
The overall rolling diameter should be the same. I said smaller wheels, not tires. And I would never brake that hard when going that fast. ABS doesn't lock up the wheels, it prevents wheel lock-up. I don't think it would do that just cause the fronts are spinning faster when braking.
#22
i know you said wheel... but USUALLY with a smaller wheel goes a smaller tire. what if there were an emergency... other dude comes into your lane. and abs working properly..meaning all the tires are the same diamater, WILL prevent lock up. but if the car is applying abs and nothing is changing (wheel duration due to smaller tires) then lock up could happen. and please note the word could and not would. and the front brakes stop first.. meaning they apply pressure before the rears. there are fluid restrictors in the brake master cylinder to make sure this happens..
