magnaflow 14815 sound (vid)

ok so i was searchin with the words "intake 3.0" and looked around, i saw a handfull of pplz asking about the sound of the magnaflow 14815.. i guess which is a popular muffler for our 1st gen. So a few weeks ago i bought this from Alan (dachinaman2002).. it was a week old from his 3.0.. anyways i got nothing else done but that so this is stock w/ the magnaflow.. kinda corny but its for any of you guys that wanted to hear how it sounds.

http://h2opr00f.cjb.net/temp/exhaust.MPG

side note - dunno why there is flickering, and the movie should be viewed with windows media player.. it is screwed up when i try it with powerdvd.. o ya and my sister had the sniffles when she cammed this plus she stopped right when it was gonna change gears again ;\

i had the sports, the rode really great, the only reason why i swapped them out was because i wanted to go a bit lower. With the sportlines its a little bit stiffer, i imagine thats how the H&R races are like. I have adj shocks though, so i can make the ride softer if needed

Definitely post another pick of one revving - sounds sweet so im looking into it. I like how it's aggressive but non ricy and non super loud. Also sounds kinda sophisticated. I definitely like.

oh thats 97Acura3.0CL's .. its a "vafc controller".. i asked him about it real fast before we both had to go.. he can go into greater detail but it lets you tweak some stuff like the vtec engagement point and stuff ;]

UMMMM NOPE

the resonator is not needed, it makes the exhaust so much louder and deeper, the only thing is if you go for a drive like i went to SF a week ago and the drive was ok the sounds gets loud after a while but if you set the CC at 70mph or 75 the sound is not that bad at all but i love ocming home and night and driving past this accord parked down my street and just driving normal i set his alarm off everytime

its loud

What the VAFC controller allows you to do it this...............

1. Change VTEC engagement points, most say we have 4800 or around there engagement but when i installed the VAFC it came on with factory settings from the ECU and it says 5300, but anyways mine is set at 3800

2. change the air fuel mixture------you can only do this is you have it on a dyno, right now i dont have anything changed except the engagment points which doesnt harm much and it is a little fun , the air fuel will take you about a hour to 2 hours to get all the settings to the optimal points, Cocoa has his set really well and i think he got like 12-15hp from the controller at some points

3. Monitoring
- monitor the intake manifold pressure
- MORE accurate readig on the RPMS, stock is like 500-700rpms off from the vafc, of course the vafc is was more accurate being digital
- monitor the vtec engagement on and off when you watch the vid pay atttention to my rpms and then was the light go to ON that means the VTEC is engaged
-you can record a graph read out of up to 30 seconds like if you go to the track and want to record when it engaged and rpms and then throttle percentage
-monitor trottle percentage, you can monitor how much you are pressing on the gas by a precentage shown on the vafc in the video
-monitor once tuned the amount of correction you have set at different rpms ranges

this thing does everything and it is the shit when i got mine it was like 500, but i didnt have to pay for it, i went to go buy one and when i went to this shop i pulled up and i went arond this bag in te road where i used to live where the shop was located and i got out and i knew the bag was full or had something in it cause the bag didnt move and it was windy that day, open it to my surprise, it was the VAFC CONTROLLER !!!!!!!!

i didnt even go in, i picked it up and left and i got my vafc for FREE!!!!

but if you want to know more hit me up on PM or aol im @ jgiguere17 ill be happy to answer any questions anyone has

the VAFC is the best when you have reached all your mods limts where you cant mod out anymore and you want to tune the car the best to run the best, it has shown in some magazines, like super street, iport tuner and some others, that the VAFC can get up to 25hp i saw it on a accord and then on a civic

but hope this explains it all and glad to help you all out and hope the vids were cool

I gained 11.6 whp and 9.9 lbs of torque to the wheels.

I was losing torque from 3600 rpms to 4500 rpms before tuning it. It started off at 143 lbs of torque at 3600rpm and went down to 107 lbs of torque at 4500 rpms. With a max torque peek of 159.7 at 4650 rpms. (yes, it jumped from 107 to 159 in about 200 rpms!)

I was also losing whp from 3900 rpm to 4500 rpm. The whp at 3600 rpm was at 100hp and went down to 90whp at 4500rpms. With a max whp of 163.7 at 5600 rpms.

So at stock form (with all my mods before tuning) I was losing both torue and horse power drastically from 3600-4500 rpms.

Once I had my car tuned, these were my final results:

With torque, at 3600 rpms I started to gain torque and went up to 167 lbs of torque now at 4500 rpms. With a max torque peek of 169.6 at 5200 rpms.

With horsepower, now at 3900 rpms, it continued to rise up to 142 whp at 4500 rpms. With a max whp of 175.3 at 5600 rpms.

This is a GAIN of 52whp at 4500rpms and 60 lbs of torque at the wheels at 4500 rpms. With a final gain of 11.6 max whp and 9.9 max lbs of torque. The gains throughout the rpm range is what helps out a lot as you can see. I have pics of the dyno sheet which you can look up in an old thread. It's called Cocoa's dyno.
