anyone from NY know if it's illegal to not have a front license plate... i took a 'lil road trip down to Florida last month and noticed NY is pretty much the only place where everyone had a front plate on. CL's look so much better without, but i also don't need another ticket ???

I think so.... I live there... or kinda live there I go to school in CA but I lived there for 19 years I believe you need it because all the cars there have them I think it was a ploy to get more money for the DMV plus they had the new plates come out 2-3 years ago so had to pay for that lol.

Idaho is like that too, we have to have a front plate, don't know why, I'd like to see a cop read my front plate when he meets me. I think they just have them so that the cops have a nice flat metal surface to point the laser guns at. I wan't to take mine off and I even asked the local state cop about it, he said no go. So there's Idaho for ya.

It is very illegal. It will be a easy ticket for the cop to meet his quota and you will get pulled over for that. It is also illegal to block the rim of the license plate. You can not put the frames such as the dealership on the plate. You can not put shields or anything on the plate also. If you get caught for stuff like that it be close to $100 fine. NYC is broke and they will try to get that money from u.

ilegal in cali but you'll only get a ticket if you're pulled over for something else, or if you get a parking ticket. and it's just a fix it ticket. I just throw the plate back on, get my ticket signed off, mail it in, and pull the plate back off

Talk about it, Cali is the shit hole for front plate ticket. I got one awhile back when I was parking at the SFO long term parking. and they actually gave me a ticket for not having a license plate. i fix it though. so screw them. fix it and mail it. then plates comes off again. hehehe
