KYB GR-2 Rear shocks blown after 1 year?
I'm looking for ideas as to why two rear shocks replaced last october would be blown. They were brand new GR-2's and I am not lowered or drive hard. I do have a JL audio W7's and at least 40 lbs of sound deadening materal in the trunk, but I dont think that should cause that. What gives? What should I replace them with? Are the springs going causing to much pressure on the strut? I've never heard of Springs wearing out. Thanks for the ideas.
Oh yeah, Stainless steal brake lines suck also, I got mine off ebay and they already rusted through. Complete pieces of shit. Anyone know where to get new fitted brake lines?

got them on Ebay, and the seller is no longer a member. Called KYB and they didn't give a shit, so it sounds like i'm SOL. What should i replace them with? Monroe? I am not looking for anything performance wise, just long lasting.

I've actually heard of GR2's blowing several times, but the car was always lowered

Thanks - Since they were put on only a year ago, i'm going to install the next ones since the bolts shouldn't be rusted on yet. Look out for my bitching in the Strut install DIY.

what kind of mileage do you have on that car, springs do wear out as they are normally only rated for "infinite life" i.e. a million cycles. You normally wont have to worry about spring fatigue but it does happen. I went the cheap way and bought dropzones for my car, been riding on them for over 2 years and no problems.
Anyway hope you have better luck with the next set of shocks.

^^ Thanks man, I only have 160XXX on the car. Put maybe 20k on in the last year, but still not enough for them to blow. It was about 80% highway miles.

I'm pretty sure my GR-2's are blown. I'm just too lazy to look under the car and verify. I doubt KYB's QC is better than Honda's and you may have gotten a bad set. The thing with KYB is that it's a "bargain brand". The better ones cost money, but you have a much higher chance of getting 4 shocks that match. Look into Koni, Biltein and Öhlins.

Thanks guys - any advice as to replacing the rear upper bushings while its all apart? I show on advance its like 14.99 but is that per side, or all in?
For some reason it looks like the strut piston was torqued off to the side for some reason, just ever so slighly, probably caused it to blow. Any ideas with that also?

That was what I was thinking, if they weren't assembled right or lined up
