Keyless entry doesnt work..help?
Well my keyless entry hasnt worked for some time (before I got the car) I have the remote and replaced the battery and it doesnt work. Tried the programming in the manual, didnt do anything. Should I get another battery and try to program again? What should I do. It hasnt bother'd me untill recently and I want to get it fixed. Acura told me $400
No F*****G way. Theres got to be a simpler answer, I hope. any help would be great.

^Thats what i've been doing since may, Im a simplistic person and usually dont care but lately its been bugging me. I guess its just nice to hit a button and have it open/lock and be able to open the trunk w/o getting into the car.
Have you checked the fuse buss? Your keyless entry system has a fuse in the pannel under the dash on the driver's side. For those of you who lock your doors with the key, does doing this activate the alarm? If not, than the issue is tied to the alarm control box under the passenger seat. Som on the board have opted for an after-market alarm system. You might look into some of these systems. Several are mentioned in threads in this forum... do a search on alarms. The keyless entry is part of the alarm system. Good luck.

My first post here....I have a '98 3.0 CL, totally stock.
I'm the only driver on the car, and had just been using one remote key fob. After about 5 or 6 years, it quickly became very unreliable....I had maybe a 1 in 10 chance of unlocking/locking the doors.
I changed the battery, which did not help. Then I took off the back cover and battery, and flushed it out with TV tuner cleaner, which helped somewhat. Finally I just went to the spare key fob and that has been working fine.
It seemed to me that it was just a matter of dirt, corrosion, and age of the remote fob I had been using, not an issue with the system on the car.

Just buy one off ebay, the dealer wants like $65-100 to buy and program it, you can buy one on ebay and program it yourself
There is a proceedure for programing new FOBs. It is on the forum somewhere, SEARCH for it. As for the FOB itself, it is simple to take appart. You need a quarter and a plastic wedge tool or a very small flat-blade screw driver.
1. Take out the battery using the quarter to turn the back cover.
2. Take the wedge tool and slide it into the seperation deviding the front and back of the FOB.
3. Gently turn the wedge to seperate the two pieces.
NOTE: Inside the FOB is a rubber button plate, and the circuit board.
4. Using TV tuner cleaner, spray the little switches and make sure they are clean and dry.
5. Inspect the circuit board for cracks and cold solders.
NOTE: If the board is cracked, you will need another FOB.
6. Using a fine tip solder gun, correct any cold soldered components. (very delicate)
7. Inspect the battery connectors and make sure the contacts are securely connected to the board.
8. Gently place the rubber button panel in the top plastic piece of the FOB. Lay the circuit board atop of the rubber panel and snap the back plastic piece onto the front. Gently but firmly "SNAP" the pieces together.
9. Replace the battery and test.
IF THIS FAILS...

The trouble is finding a 2nd gen remote that has that same fcc code, they have different ones, hence what I said about needing to find one that's similar.
the remotes for first gen are so expensive, i just bought mine off ebay for $30 shipped, and thats the average price they're going for on ebay! the 2nd gens remotes are going for about $15 shipped if not less
heres the instructions that came with my fob that i just bought

go to the dealership, they should do it for you for free. thats what they did for me. if you program it yourself and your car stops working then its ur security system preventing you to used ur car.

Just turn to the "on" position
and dont jump to conclusions that it didnt work because it wont lock or unlock, when you are sitting inside with the door open. make sure after u hear it click the first time and dont have anymore remotes to program to take your keeps out the ignition and close the door and try it
