K24 powered YA1/3s???

http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/t...wap/index.html

well apparantly Hasport makes a mount kit for our CD chassis Honda sister cars..... wondering what some of you might think about this. sure its no A/C or anything like that, but it would be interesting, and seeing as how K24s are going for around H22 prices I wanna just see ewhat y'all think about it

I might consider going this route when my parents get me into a new Fit when my tranny dies out........ turn the CL into a project car, K24 swap in and basically gut it out for racing puropses, and make me a 2.4CL...

or if im up to all the fuss I can wait for the warantee to go out on the Fit and put a K motor into that......... but realistically to keep it automatic like my parents want it itll probably just get the boost treatment from HKS

--off topic--
What's a G22? I've heard of G25s but not G22s.....

G25 was a real Honda production motor of the 5 cylinder variety, as you probably well know

G22 is the designation for a H22/F22 hybrid frakenstien motor, strapping an H22 DOHC VTEC head on the stronger F22 block, THE motor of chouce for those of us seeking boost, since a H22 block would have to be resleeved anyways why not use our existing block that came stock with cast iron sleeves........... G comes from the alphabet, where "G" is between "F" and "H"

I never knew any of the F-series could be put to any use besides making noise, go figure. I need to start reading up on those motors then...

No im dead serious, there are people that have made the f series a beast of a motor. Theyre durable cuz of the iron block, and with the right amount of money they could be beasts. Its just that for the everyday person, its cheaper to swap out a motor thats more powerful from stock like an H22 or Kseries, and modify it.

the thing with F series motors is they can take some serious boost due to their bullet-proof ridgidity......... these things willtake the punishment

only thing is that the head doesnt flow too well.......... that doesnt stop people though.... ive seen single cam build that actively compete against the big muscle car guys on the strip

Wouldn't the H22 head on the f block solve that flow problem, thus the G series with delicious boost? I've seen posts on honda-tech w/a couple guys with the N/A setup with good numbers, like an h22 with more torque, and the boost setup is great too. Guys r running 8psi daily w/no problems

right, but a G22 isnt exactly what id call a straight up F22, now is it

but yeah my F22 is a beastly tank.... now if only I could say the same for my stupid tranny

A G22/3 basically takes an H22 and F22's strengths (head for H22, block for F22) and puts them together, which is better than a regular F22 and equal to or better than H22 (better if ur using boost cuz of the iron sleeved F block)

what you are forgetting to take into account, is that most of those guys that do engine swaps, head swaps, hybrid motors etc have another car(s). this isnt the type of thing to do if your cl is your only ride. so there's not point sitting here and debating g22 vs f22 turbo vs honda lawnmower etc. unless your building a track car, which would be your second car anyways, this kinda swap is retarded for your DD

Why not? As long as you do it right and it runs reliably, theres no reason not to try this out.

you never know whats gonna happen, so you're taking a risk...im just not that crazy about swaps in a DD, i'd hate to have something weird start happening and prevent me from driving.

Thats understandable. I'd be willing to try it tho, taking the risks for the possibility of the rewards lol

yea same with H22 swaps. stop talking about it and start doing it.

even though theres too many "i wanna do this swap" threads, i enjoy participating in those over "y0 check out my clear directionals" type threads.
