K20Z1 swap??
Has it been done in a 2.3 CL?
I was tossing around the idea and was thinking it would be do able.
If it can be put in a 94-97 Accord should fit in a 1999 2.3 CL right?
That would be horrible if it didn't clear the hood...
$299-$799 Hasport Axles Level 1 (200hp) or Level 2.9 (475hp)
$549 Hasport K-series Motor Mount - 94-97 Accord
$2650 K20Z1 Type-S Motor (complete from 2005-2006 RSX Type-S)
Displacement: 1998 cc
Compression: 11.0:1
Power: 210 hp (154 kW) @ 7800 rpm
Torque: 143 ft·lbf (194 N·m) @ 7000 rpm
Redline: 8100 rpm[/CENTER]
$3,498 to $3998 plus installation
There is shop around here that have done K-swaps before but never one in an Accord... let alone a CL.
It's $80 per hour for labor... not sure how many hours it would take...
I would guess that for everything it is going to be around $6,000 to $7,000.
It's basically between this or a new car... deffinatly going to have to sleep on this for awhile...

K20's have been swapped into a CL, I don't see why you couldn't. I take it your turbo build never took off?

It did kinda... had the turbo, intercooler, and a few other parts but after thinking about it more decided the F23 wasn't going to cut it... so i sold the parts. I've had the CL for 6 years now and kinda wanted something new... Went to a bunch of car shows up in Canada and saw all the crazy K-swapped cars they have up there and got to thinking...
Still a toss up might trade in the CL for something alittle newer... but a K swap would be pretty bad ass. I really like the look of the first gen CL though so not sure yet what I want to do.

wow that is so cool.
I would love to have a k swapped CL, but def with the k24 bottom. My mazda pulls harder than my dad's civic Si because that k20 lacks so much torque.
I actually have to be careful when coming from dead stops because the tires just love to spin. aha

Decided the opportunity to be the first K-swapped CL is to good to pass up. It would kinda be like getting a new car anyways so why not right?
Found a place selling the TSX K24a2 swap w/ 27,428k 6spd for $2375
or K24 w/ 12,853k longblock $1900
Or an 03 & up Accord w/ a variety of miles K24a1 swap for $1000 shipped
differance is the extra $1375 for the TSX motor gets you the 6spd tranny and an extra 40hp
Ordered Tein Super Street Dampers today.
Should have enough by tax return time for the motor, mounts, and axles.
Winter is coming soon so it almost time for it to be garaged anyways... goal is July 2010.
Been finding ALOT of helpful info for the 94-97 Accord K24 swap
parts checklist for 94-97 Accord swap
K24 long block and transmission from '03-05 Accord or '04-06 TSX
Shifter cables and shifter box from same car
'02-04 RSX-S/Civic Si engine harness
'02-04 RSX-S C101 plug (male and female ends)
'03-05 Accord throttle body (if using TSX engine)
Hasport mount kit
Hasport sub harness
Hondata K-Pro or AEM EMS engine management
Hasport driveshafts
DC Sports K-swap header for Civic
Fuel pressure regulator

I don't really like the looks of the second gen...
Went up to Importfest in Toronto a couple weeks back. Best show I've been to so far.
We had Perfect 10 here in Fargo, ND back in August. There was 3 K-swapped Civics and a K20 CRX that came down from the Winnipeg area...
Two RHD 240sx that came with them...

Sounds like all this will cost you a pretty penny. I wonder how fast it'll really be, being that I leave well modded rsx-s's and civic si's in the dust w/my h23a. Definitely will be unique and fun to drive though, that's for sure.

K engines just feel so much more refined (by that I mean smooth like butter. Could be the lack or torque though) than h/f series that i'd driven, but then again I haven't driven any brand NEW h-f series. I would love to go for a ride in your car if you get it swapped haha.

Thats hell of a project...I wouldnt do it if it was me...i rather get into a TSX or something...but youve had your car for 6 years or so and its really hard to get rid of something after you loved it and taken care of it so i see your point there..
In Toronto, k-swaps are on every block now these days...yesterday was a JDMR show in richmond hill and everyone has swapped these motors besides CL's since there was only 3 there but yea its a popular swap these days so good luck...if you wanna be different Supercharge it...they go like stink!

yea i saw an rsx type s can beat by 2-3 cars by 4th gen accord with a stock jdm h22 with exhaust. That wud be bad ass if you went k. I think if you boosted the F it would beat your car with the k swap though. Doesn't an F have like 200 to the wheels with 7 pounds? idk something like that. K swap would be fresh as hell though its a new motor with alot of potential once you get k pro and all that jazz.

where is....
really depends on which k24 you get, my mom also has a crv with the k24a1. my k24z3 pulls wayy harder and the k24a3 from the tsx is just beast in the right car.

arent the k series motors extremely efficient with bolt ons though? like 30+ hp with i/h/e?
or maybe my memory doesnt serve me well. in any regard, best of luck on the project and props on taking on such an endeavor!

they need a reflash for them to gain that type of power from bolt ons, just like you can get a basemap tune for your parts from Phearable.net.

where is....
it really depends on the cam setup too, only the ones with 3 lobed vtec camshafts get good results from bolt-ons, others like the k20a3 are just pissing their money away.

I myself have been looking into doing this swap. I have been tossing around the pro's/con's and reliability/availability of the H/F/K-series motors. they K-series is an amazing motor. its smooth, reliable, has a big aftermarket support, and can make some serious power with the right parts. I personally have put together/worked on a few K-series over the last year+ and have been pleasantly suprised. got 268whp out of a N/A (mild build) K-series, as well as 415whp(91octane) and 561whp(c16 race) out of a completely STOCK motor'd Turbo K-series. so that is making me lean towards a K-swap.

Good Luck! Glad you got baller pockets lol. My motor/tranny/mods/electrical cost less than a k24 longblock and tranny and i'm faster so i'll stick w/what i got, but your setup will probably have more potential in the long run. How much u planning to spend?

The goal is to keep it under 9 grand for everything installed, tuned, and ready to roll... shooting for May 2010. Hardest part has been finding a good K24a2 with less than 40k miles with a 6spd for under $2800 shipped.
