my other thread was about how to change my engine oil by myself cuz i got my car's oil change last week, and before that it WASNT leaking oil...now it is. what might the problem be?

im guessing the screw to where the oil pan is isn't tight enough or the washer inside is bad...any opinions? thanks

you have 2 seals on the oil filter...happened to me once. Take off the oil filter and take off the seal that stuck on the part where you screw it on.

that happens alot on imports, no clue why but its because the seal peels off the filter and sticks to the car...then you dont notice, screw the new one on and poof 2 seals

p.s. is it leaking from the pan or the oil plug?

you need to specify where the leak is coming from

and i always wet the seal with a bit of oil for it to stay moist. been doing it for years. never a leak and never had the seal break. on top of that i dont use cheap $2 oil filters

Most likely a double gasket, hopefully u didn't crack the oil pan or something, also make sure your filter is threaded on there right

A couple months ago I was leaking oil. Apparently, the leak was coming from one of the seals. The problem was I had too much oil (6 quarts). I wouldn't fill over 4 quarts of oil. After an oil change, the leak stop and luckily it didn't do any damage to the seal.

There is a crush washer on the oil drain bolt which needs to be replaced every time. This washer gets crushed when you tighten the bolt and makes a leakproof seal. This also help from over tightening the bolt. Since it's crushed the first time, it can't/shouldn't be reused. These washers are really cheap at the dealer.

And from my experience, you can only get them from the dealer. Now I only checked autozone and they didnt have them. I never check checker or pep boys either.

My question is, is this something they change at the oil change place everytime?

yea i work at jiffy lube and the oil leak is probably a double gasket on your drain plug or a double gasket on the oil filter. Either that or someone didnt put a gasket on your drain plug at all or overtightened the drain plug really bad but its probably one of the first two scenarios.
