Unhappy Just got a ticket.

$890.

Failure to stop at stop sign - My fault, wasn't paying as much attention as i should have been, assumed it was a 2-way (I suck) = $124

Operating Motor Vehicle with no proof of insurance - I have insurance, just had the wrong card IN my car at the time. (Can hopefully be dropped). = $550

Expired Tabs - Hmm, not sure, but wasn't I supposed to get a notice in the mail to renew my tabs soon or something of the sort? = $216

Going to show to court to fight the proof of insurance deal, and TRY to reduce the tab charge (doubt it).

Yeah I know I am just a stupid 16 year old kid :squintfaw

Whatever.

I learned my lesson and will be DAMNED cautious from now on.

Just sharing my horrible night with you all. Have a good one.

at least you understand you were in the wrong, and not like most of these 16-20 y/o noobs who say "fuck the police" and what not. they will drop your insurance ticket, just bring them the correct card w/ todays date on it being covered.

we've all been there. dont worry.

The insurance stuff gets updated all the time anyway. Just show the latest and get out of that one.
Impossible to fight expired plates,
but as for $125 for running a stop sign? That's not that bad right?
BTW, How much do tickets cost for speeding?

i think in florida running a stop sign is around 180, red light..220ish? so 125 isnt too bad. good luck with the rest of the shit. i regret speeding when i was younger and my car insurance is finally going down. i still drive like an asshole and will probably get caught again. but atleast i know this is going to happen..

Wow that sucks. What PD busted you? Seattle, Bellevue, etc?

BTW you should keep in mind that 2 moving violations = suspension of license. I know this from experience...though I ended up lawyering up and having the suspension lifted and kept off my record permanently.

DAMN! The cop never said anything about a suspension WHATSOEVER! Im so scared now wtf.

Well, I was on south hill, so it could possibly be state, and the ticket said king county court. hope that helps.

Yeah, it's bad stuff...
http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/teens.html

"What if I get a traffic citation or violate these special rules?

* If you violate the special rules for teens, commit any other driving violation, or are in a collision, you will be sent a warning letter by the Department of Licensing.
* If you commit 2 driving violations, you will be sent a letter that suspends your driving privileges for 6 months or until age 18, whichever is shorter.
* If you commit 3 driving violations, your license will be suspended until age 18.
* Your parents will receive a copy of any warning or suspension letter sent to you."

Also since this is an intermediate license that you have, the restrictions on passengers and times which you can drive (which I never followed anyways) stay longer now since you've had a moving violation. Really lame, but you should definitely read the link I gave and consider your options. I'm not sure if the insurance thing or the tabs is a moving violation or not, but the stop sign definitely is.

well like you said you're young and learned a lesson, always keep the right paperwork in your car, I used to keep 100 insurance papers in my car, now I keep just the current one so I'm not digging for it if I ever need it

thats weird i was in the same situation at 16 had an old insurance card. in poulsbo it was 598. but then again i got negligent driving in the 2nd degree too. that was another 598. pretty shitty. i got it deferred though.

puyallup can be weird to drive in, i know. theres a lot of oddly set up intersections. thats why you get a radar detector and keep your eyes pealed, especially somewhere like puyallup. theres a lot of cops there, just like kitsap.

Speaking of radar detectors, what is the best now? For the longest time it was that Passport.

just get an escort 8500 X50 and call it a day... no need to spend 500 on a V1 unless you want directional indicators.

this is one of those posts that should remind everyone that you need to keep your documents updated and in/on the car.

I almost got in a lot of trouble a little while back, when my camry threw a rod through the block and caught fire. Here I was 2am in the morning with police and fire on their way and realized I not only didnt have my insurance card in the car, nor brought my wallet along that day. Luckily the fire went out and police basically rolled by, never actually stopping.

OP; I'm surprised they didnt impound the car for out of date tags and no insurance. Thought that was a felony. Honestly idk, that's what I thought.

I would probably suggest you stop at stop signs

especially when there is a cop right there

that's the best. I do that at a few intersections... There's a 4 way stop off the highway right behind my house. Some asshat blew the stop sign, broad sided another vehicle causing it to flip over. No one was injured fortunately.

With that said, I'm waiting for the day I get rear ended. It's almost happened twice. Not that it will be my fault, so I don't really care.

almost got rear ended today as i was pulling up to my house, but the guy stopped just in time. and the story of the guy broad siding the other car is bad. just another reason to stop.

yea. but sometimes people get really mad. I was letting my girl drive the CL back in the day and this crazy lady was tailgating her. so i told her to stop reallllllyyy slow and then turn and the lady happened to be going that way and was still tailgating her. so i told he to stop really slow at the next stop sign. then she turned right and the lady was going the same way and then passed my girlfriend who was doing 25 in the residential area. Crazy bitch in her Monte lol. i told her she was lucky that wasnt me driving.

Hey no worries I got busted the other day with "No Proof of Insurance" I got a ticket. But obviously I had insurance (it just happened to be an old insurance card I had and geico had sent me a new one until 3 days later), but anyway it got thrown out and I payed absolutely nothing except gas for a trip down to the courthouse. I was in King County btw, cops there are giant D*ckholes.

Oh btw everyone thats in WA, South Everett is the starting to be place for people to meet up for races and showing there cars (On Fridays and Saturdays). Kent is too hot anymore, you hear about the 150 car bust a few months back? Crazy! If you go you'll see me and my crew depending if I'm not partying that weekend.

I need pictures of my car. I'll get something up soon.

damn, not to judge, but yall kids need to slow down a bit. . . ill roll a stop sign, but never outright run it, its self preservation for me more than anything else. . . as for the insurance thing, yeah if you bring to the court the proof that you were insured at the time of the ticket, you can get it knocked off for like 10 bucks in processing fees, atleast thats how it is here in Texas

and as for the 95 in the highway thing, im honestly surprised you werent arrested for that

oh wow, i thought my ticket was bad for going 96 in a 55 and that was like $256. The only thing that pissed me off was that the cop was a fuckin nooB and the other cop had to tell him what to say.

It's not the ticket that's expensive, it's the insureance increase..

yeah. . . what he said. . .

as for the radar discussion that i Missed earlier, yeah a good unit for less than a V1 is the X50, great performance, itll throw down with the V1 and hold its own, the 9500 will take it a step further, itll really stand with a V1, and itll come out ahead in some cases. . . plus GPS integration, I thought it was a gimmick, until I got it, im never going back. . . as they say, Silence is GOlden
