Just changed my suspension...now I hear a "pshh" on every bump..normal or what?

Hey,
I recently upgraded my suspension to
Neuspeed sports and KYB Agx adj. shocks.
I now hear (dont remember if i heard this b4 suspension upgrade or not) a "pshh" at every bump...it sounds like air being released ....is this normal? why do I hear this? did they install my suspension wrong somehow?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

your spring rating is too low for your car weight... do you have a system in your trunk?! or even you have the adjustable adjusted too soft or too hard... that sound is the shock compressing... It is either giving and not retracting quick enough (too much tension) or vise sersa.. play with your adjustments...

Casper:

I only have a 10" bazooka and 1 small amp, so it's probably not the weight. I will play with the settings and see if that does something.

Thanks,

I've had several cars in which I have changed suspension on and I had yet to hear what I am hearing....so this is what gives me the impression that something is not working properly.

Im going to have to lift the damn rear of my car....I can't get to the rear adjustables with this drop. Argh

Eibach Pro-Kit

I have my settings set pretty soft now, but when they were set stiffer I didn't hear it.

I also was thinking that it was my springs settling that might have caused it.

I really only hear it when I have my windows rolled down while going over bumps at lower speeds.

I will PM u my # as soon as I finish this reply. i should be up there this saturday again, washing my car like usual.

I only hear it when my windows are rolled down and my radio is off....I do this for this exact purpose....to hear how the car is driving, engine noise, any rattling and things of this nature. And it bugs me to hear noises...I know Acura/Honda's are known for rattles and what not, but this "pssh" at every bump is not normal to my ears.

I dont park in a garage because ppl will fawk up my car , I park it in a garage because there it is nearly impossible to find a parking spot in my neighboorhood by the time I get home from school at 10pm at night! Alternate side of the street parking in manhattan is soo strict....I wouldn't be able to move it in the morning because I'm at work, so i rather pay $175/month in a garage than pay hefty $105 parking tickets (I already got one).

Adjusting the settings:
I know the front's are adjustables via the top side under the hood, I've had these adjustables before on my previous civic's.....the rear on the other hand I was able to adjust just by sticking my hand via the wheel well on the civic's but on this car I have no room to accomplish this, I will have to either lay on the damn ground underneath the rear of my car (which im not doing) or just lift it from the rear at my dad's garage and then just take it for a spin.

Thanks,

Pot Holes & Parking in NYC S*CKS BIG HAIRY B*LLZ!
My $.02

P.S
Casper:
Do you ever drive into the city with your car....your car is so low I would imagine it be a b*tch to come to the city.

Got Rice?:
Hmm...never really thought of it like that....so because they are "Gas" shocks this means that it releases (sounds like it does) some kind of pressure that can be heard?

Im not familiar with Gas shocks as opposed to non-gas shocks?

Jack the car up and on the upper and lower control arm spray PB blaster or any other lubricant with teflon onto your upper control arm bushing. I have been having this problem in the front of my car. It usually come back after two weeks and all you have to do is respray.

We shouldn't have to be jacking up the car every 2 weeks or so to alleviate this, that's like placing your bumper back on with tape everytime it falls off.

I have it too. If everyone has it, it really isn't a problem now is it? The only i can think of is that they are made for the 94-97 accord and our upped weight may affect them. Otherwise, we all have it, so why worry?

Hmm...Being that soo many of us have now stepped forward and confirmed hearing the same thing...then maybe it is normal to hear this. it's weird cuz i never heard this on my 97' civic.

Oh well...as long as I aint the only one.

What you're describing sounds normal to me. I get that sound everytime I hit a bump.

I have the Pro-Kit/AGX set-up.

Yea,
After now hearing more than 10 members come forward stating the same with their setup I now feel a lil more comfortable.

Can anyone verify though that this is a symptom of "Gas" Shocks?
