Insurance question

My car got hail damaged last week.

I got an estimate from Detail Authority for paintless dent repair costing $1300.

Today, I took it to Allstate to have them do an est and it came out to $$2000.

Here's the question: Allstate says that since my car has a lien agaist it. The check will be made out to me AND which ever shop I decide on. If I decide on Detail Auth, will the check be for $1300 or $2000?

Unrelated question: They said the purpose of the co-payee on the check is because of protection against insurance fraud. Car owner pocketing the $$$, etc. How is pocketing the money fraud? Isn't it the owner's perrogative on what he decides about his car's fate? If he doesn't want it fixed, he takes the depreciation from the damages anyways.

I think since he has a lien, then that means the car is not his to decide on the fate of the car. My friend had an accident, the insurance company made it out to the body shop. I heard some places will charge a little more to cover the deductable. I don't know any that does this, but I heard it happens.

Generally if you own the car fully, the insurance company pays you, and then u pay them. On my previous car (prelude), I droped the car and ran with the check.

that happened to me...
the check was written out to my name but the bodyshop dude made me sign it and he cashed it...

people have also cashed the check (from the more expensive quote) and take it to the bodyshop with the less expensive quote...
