Instrument cluster dimming as car goes faster?
I was driving on the freeway just at first and noticed as soon as i floored my car around 80, goin to about 5000rpm, the gauges would dim pretty noticeably, as soon as i let off everything got brighter again...whats going on here?

once the car is started the battery pretty much does nothing... the car actually runs off the alternator.(car runs fine with the positive terminal off the battery).... so i would start with the alternator before it chews up your battery.

is there a place to test my alternator for free? i actually just changed it about a year ago...about two weeks ago my optima red top got juiced for some reason, and i needed a jump start with no apparent reason, possibly an alternator problem then

Most car maintenance places can test it for you for free. I know pep boys, advanced auto, and grease monkey test them for you for free, probably even sears, or a tire/service place. Just remember they may try to sell you something with your "free charging system diagnostic"
