Installing Headers for the 3.0 . . .

Has anyone here installed their own Comptech headers?

If so, how was the process (time, difficulty, materials needed, # of people necessary [helpers], etc.)?

I've done the search, but have only found info on the 3.2 install. I'm sure it's quite similar, but wanted the experience of other 3.0 owners.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!

Dusty, although I have not done it on the 3.0, I am sure the process is very very similar. I remember seeing an AV6 article on doing the mod - lemme see if I can find it. Also, I would be more than happy to help you out bud!

dust i have... not hard if you have a lift or pit!!! you do have to be careful with the bolts.. they are tough, but once you break your seals, you are on a smoothe road... total for me and my friend was about 2 or so hours

Go for it. I'd at least attempt it if I had the tools/space (dont know if you do or not).

You know you want to.

Unfortunately, no lift (or pit--although I've been looking for a reason to dig a big-ass hole in my front yard)!

I'll be doing this out front, up on jack stands.

Adam, when are you free?

I would not consider doing this on stands... we had to apply alot of pressure on the bolts to get them off even with AIR tools!!!! Its a SHOP EQUIP job.. not an in the street doer!

Rick, lets leave this one to an expert. See how much the dealer would charge to install them, or take them out to Virginia to the pro-performance shop in Tyson's Corner. I am off this weekend, so if you wait, I'll try to help you. I want to know as well, since I am seriously considering the OBX headers as next months mod, I just got some for the Probe GT!!!!!

Unfortunately, paying someone to install these takes $$$ away from the Type 'S' cam sawp!

I think I'll take the CL up to PA, and use my Uncle's air-compressor and ramps.

I just want to get them on ASAP!

I've already ordered new gaskets which will be here in the AM.

I'm planning to hit the track a week from this Friday!

you shouldn't have a problem doing it on jacks, just make sure you can get enough torque on the bolts to get them off.

This is true. But OBX won't answer if it fits or not either. Not gonna drop $500 till I get a confirm by them.

if your gonna be on your back doing it, it's going to be a bitch, you need that leverage to loosen those damn bolts. its took me about 3-4 hours doing it on and off through out the day. i sprayed my bolts with stuff to make them come off easier, but i don't think it helped.

I thought the headers would arrive Monday or today, but they haven't.

Hopefully, they'll arrive on Wednesday, for a Thursday install.
