installed 7440 led's
i know that there has been some questions about about clear corners and led 7440 bulbs, so i thought i would lend some advice. i went ahead and ordered the amber turn signal 7440 led's from directauto.com and installed them. they look nice when not in use but unfortunately when i turn on the blinker, they blink fast like a bulb is burned out. i guess if you can stand a fast blinking turn signal, then these led's are alright. i was unhappy that they sent A.P.C.'s 7440's, but i guess that explains the quirky activity of these.

LED's dont draw much current, thats where the fast blink is comming from. You can get a variable current flasher from most autoparts stores... just tell them your situation and i'm sure they can come up with something.
You can find APC LED bulbs at Autozone and Advance Auto... (Pep Boys also I believe) for $8 a piece... or Autozone has another brand for like $14 a pair, but I dont believe they come in 7440.

maybe i should just stick with piaa yellow ion blinkers instead? don't like the quick blinking thing, do the amber LEDs look comparable to the piaa yellow ions?

I don't get it. I have asked numerous times at both Autozone, pepboys, and even Strauss auto, and they all tell me that they don't carry 7440 in amber, let alone LED's.
What's the deal? Is it just the stores that I visit?

they actually look good and very bright at night. i'm gonna try that suggestion about the power adapter. what is that thing called? i got them off the internet for $22 with shipping, but the apc 7440's in amber are rare among the chain auto stores. sorry - i'm home from college for the summer so i don't have any resources right now for pictures to post.

I'll go check my autozone tomorrow, I swear the last time I was there they had amber 7440 LED bulbs.
Scotty... its a variable load flasher, it installs underneath your dash in place of the stock flasher. I think its flasher #552 that should work in your car.

So they blink faster. Excelent I must buy them, With my hyper blinker that is installed now and the increased blink speed it may just make my turn signal into an actual strobe. I must have them.
