ignition question

ok guys heres the concern. I need to change out my wires as schedule maintance. i saw some new wires on the market at a tuner shop. They are the 5 star wires from japan. never heard of the brand. Reason why i was impressed was that they had a tester to test the wire. It is a "box time thing or battery"( i dunno what it is) That sends power thru the wire to give out a spark to the plug. when i put magncores on there i saw a spark. same with NGK and reactive. I even went out to my car and took my stock wire to test it. It all looked the same as far as spark. HOWEVER when i hooked up the 5 star wires the spark was like 50% stronger and brighter. i am not kidding. At $125 a set i bought them and am picking them up tomorow. Since i have to change my wires any way i figure i have nothing to lose.

So. here is my question. i know a bigger spark increases performance in a car but can i expect noticeable difference in power or HP since i can SEE the difference in the spark? Also since i have more spark should i use higher octane gas?? And how ,exactly, would i bigger spark create power???

HP increase, maybe. Depends on your other mods.

The stock ignition doesnt have time at higher RPM's to recharge. The aftermarket ignitions have higher discharge and are capable for delivering more spark at higher rpms.

If youre thinking about NOS or forced induction, these tend to "blow" sparks out. That is the more air in the cylinder the harder the arc is to create. With bolt ons you may get to where this is an issue, but not sure.

So to answer the HP question, since youre not adding any more air or fuel the only way HP will increase is with more complete combustion. Ignitions will aid in making cobustion more complete.

No to the higher octane gas. This is used for compression reasons and if not going NOS, Turbo, or different pistons, stick to 87.
