If i replace the shift knob what about the boot?

If i replace the shift knob what about the boot?
I want to replace the shift knob on my 5 sp. Will I have to get rid of the shift boot as well, because the top of it is square while most knobs are round.

What I did was to remove the plastic piece on the boot and keep that loose. Depends on what kind of knob you have.... it will cover up the gap. Either that or find a way to bind the top of the boot.
Another idea I had were to buy the shift boot off the Prelude SH. Good luck.

the oem leather shift knob from your acura dealer is square at the bottom to match the boot.
