I love my CL!

I've had my CL for 4 day now and I love it. Just got my Pioneer DEH-8500MP headunit installed. Music sounds much better even with stock speakers. It's PIMP BIOTCH!

Here is a pic of the new headunit.

DEH-8500MP

Is there a special bracket to mount the Headunit with the sunglass holder attached. I dont really like the look of those Plastic Dash kits. I made a custom mount out of 2 kitchen knives and duct tape for now. But a more permanent mount would be preferred.

I think metra kits offers one with a pocket under the head unit. I have it in my car, you lose the trap door but you still have storage.

No I mean if you look at how the factory cdplayer is mounted in the car the back of the cdplayer is a thick aluminum heatsink and with 2 holes in the back strong enough to support it by that little bracket in there. The trap door in the stock car should attach to every aftermarket headunit if u have that little rectangular bracket around it which every cdplayer comes with, there has to be some bracket sold which allows u to use that mount to attach your aftermarket player too.

Ok, here's the solution without having to use those ghey metra kits which i hate the most (i install over at Best Buy). Get the metal brackets that have holes in them. Make it into a "T" bracket using bolts, etc. Attach that to the back of the head unit and drill the bottom of the T to the backet that used to hold up the factory radio. Now, to keep the radio and pocket together, I used the factory bracket that used to hold the pocket and the factory radio together. A little difficult to explain. Once I get my digital camera I'll take pictures, but it can be done without having to use duct tape (your CD player will probably start to heat up quite a bit) and without using that fucking kit.

I think I am going to make one out some erector set peices my self. Most of the origional OEM mount is still usable. 2 of those long strips of erector set bent in the form of a U or rectangle 3 sides. Because there are alternatng oval and circular holes the perpendicular piece can get screwed onto the OEM bracket and then the 2 fork like pieces sticking out form a tray for the cdplayer to attach to anywhere on the bottom right in its OEM location. The eyeglass trap door hangs from the cdplayer.
