... i know, dumb question.

Hey guys. I recently bought a 1997 Acura CL 3.0. I went from a DSM to an Acura and i must say im not regretting it. i have one dumb problem though, WHERE THE HELL DO I BUY PARTS? I have yet to find a single cold air intake from a manufacturer that i have heard of. Other parts either, is this car an aftermarket ghost or what? Help me learn your advanced ways. DSM runs in my veins so i will need help from those who know what reliability is. HELP PLEASE!

read the n00b guide.

you can get intakes from AEM, injen,k&n etc. but search under 94-97 accord, thats where you'll fin d the most parts.

DSM that's a really bad word you just used. Pretty much nothin out there you gotta make it all mostly. ss autohrome has headers and cheap stainless stuff.. Cold air intakes are on ebay. Make your own. Intercooler tubing works good for that. Underdrive pully's ebay. Thats about it..

the cl is just a fancy accord with different brakes and leather guts. i used 94-97 accord parts and fabricated everything else with "universal" parts. it seems like their is always a "fitment" issue with everything

Custom fabricating everything for the CL = ?win?
Spending more time working on my gf VW than my car = loss
i hate deutchsland and i wanna kick that fag from the commercials in the nuts cus VW sucks.

Seriously, dont even bother with the intakes that are name brand unless thats all your going for. cause when it comes down to it, its just a pipe with a sticker on it. get an ebay intake and slap a K&N on it and you'll be straight. or talk to this guy, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PlYlLaxV38 , and get what he got...which is a K&..M?

sorry i spent the last 2 weeks chasing overheating problems with that turd of a car, and after fixing everything this morning the radiator fans arent working for the 3rd time causing it to overheat again and burn me. my car is older and was a salvage, it doesnt have 1/10th the problems her "V-DUB" has. and no matter what part you replace its twice the price of a normal part. Car ate 3 window regulators at $300 a piece. I still want to kick that fag in the nuts too.

6bolt dsm's arent bad. its only the 5 bolt that suffers from crank walk.

i've replaced more parts on my 54k CL than i have on my 136k DSM. it's the driver i think. not the car.

sorry guy but what is a 5 bolt? You mean a 7 bolt, im sure. Fun when they run but when one thing breaks, everything decides to go with it. frustrating, but beyond worth it when that 300AWHP pulls the JDM outta your arss.

^agree, but also has to do with previous owners.

bunch of haters in here...
VW is awesome, so is DSM
I mean Honda/Acura has good reliability and fair part pricing but very little performance potential unless you go HSeries or crazy turbo builds.
A 1.8T Jetta or GTI can chipped for under 500$ and gain 50 hp. Turbo DSMs are Honda Killers IMO.

Copletely agree with you my friend. My buddy pete's GTI is fuckin amazing. Love the styling holds its own on the track. And mike will soon be done with a 2g DSM build and will be pushing something like 450AWHP. Then there's cory, still running 15's with his t3/t4 B18 Civic coupe. damn shame.

not tryin to be a hater dicorp.

i guess we agree to disagree. i look at cars as a serious investment of my time, money, and labor. i too owned a dsm, i loved it for about 3 months. i had one thing after another crap out on the car sucessively. i fixed one thing to find out it broke another cus that part broke. i still love the old school dsm styling and the potential with those motors, on the track tho, not for my DD. awd is def the shiznit. as far as VW goes where is that fag cus i still want to punt him squarely in the nut sack. vw reliabilty is garbage, especially after a few years. my fiancee and i own one and the same parts break repeatedly and they are $$$$. i cant afford $300 window regulators at the pace of 3 a year(same window too) or $200 radiator fan switches at the pace of 2 a year. im not downing their performance potential at all, or theyre slightly girly looks :theghey: All you seem to focus on is performance. All i seem to focus on is reliability. I cant afford a track car and a DD. If you can afford to put premium in your turbos i guess that makes you better off than me, but im broke and honda offers me the best bang for my buck on a 11yr old car that was in my price range, looks good, holds together, has resale value, cheap and easy to fix myself, and gets good mpg. performance didnt even come to mind for this car. there once was i time i drove a juiced crx with a b18b that ran 12's not 15's, but i was 18 and in high school, lived at home with mom and gas wasnt $2. all i could afford was a slow a$$ acura.
