I have an airbag problem

Well, i got into an accident a while back and the airbags went off. All of the damage besides the airbags were just the body. The guy at the body shop refused to plug in the airbags since i had baught them online. I made sure that the part numbers were right for both bags, the wiring harness and the crash module. Then he put the airbags in,but he said that the module was wrong, but the numbers matched when i called the acura dealer and told them my situation. So here i am, i actually went to the acura dealer also, and they told me they won't do it and just to plug it in and see what happens. The airbags are in place and all that needs to be done is plug in the airbags and the module. I am afraid that once i plug them in, they may go off. Is there anyone here that has any experinence with airbags and knows how they work? Or maybe anyone living close to me in NJ can help me out. I really need to get this done asap.

thanks

I actually am a Systems Admin in a Airbag Inflator Manufacturing Plant. The Airbag will not go off unless power is sent to the initiator pins or Leadwire, (wichever you have). What I would do in your case is, take a volt-meter and test the plug that goes into the Airbag Initiator from the vehicle and ensure that no power is flowing through the wire (make sure the vehicle is on). If they don't have any power flowing to them then you should be okay.
Really the only thing I would worry about are the sensors that send the signal to the Airbag to go off. If they are constantly sending power..then DO NOT PLUG THEM IN!! If they are not sending power, just hope that they do when you need them too..(or get them tested).
Just out of curiosity, who is the manufacturer of the module, and who is the manufacturer of the airbag inflators themselves? You said you got them online... How much?

i changed my steering wheel before and removed the airbag. Just make sure the neg. terminal on the battery is unplugged.
