i cant wait

Well after not even a year of ownership, I've reached the last straw with my current car. After my last 99 CL was totaled, my dad made a quick purchase of a 99 nissan altima Special Edition 5spd to replace it and from day 1 the damn thing sucked ass. When he was driving it home, the clutch was slipping badly. Got it home and changed the clutch and the car wouldn't start. Then we got that fixed and got the car detailed and whattya know, the tranny needs to be replaced. I endured more bullshit with the car, such as flickering check engine light that wouldnt throw back a code, radio stopped working, drivers side door panel started coming off on its own, my fog light bulbs blew twice...until yesterday i had the final straw. On my way back from my G/F's house in NJ, im on the cross bronx expressway (for you NY people) and i hear a loud POP! Then my steering immediately became stiff so im like shit my power steering is done. So i pull over to check the car out and look under the hood and everything seems like its ok to just drive home and take care of later. I was wrong. I pull out and make a left turn to try to get back on the highway and all of a sudden, BAM! smoke starts coming from my engine bay so i pull over again. open up the hood and the whole top of the radiator has cracked all teh way across the top spewing coolant all over the engine bay. I then waited for a tow truck for 3 hours cuz Triple A sucks ass, and missed Hot Import Nights because of this bullshit. I babied that car and it still had issues. I used to beat my CL to the ground and it would get right back up and ask for more. Even my dad's 93 accord that i personally beat on as my first car as a teenager which has been through neutral drops, about 3 accidents, and 160K miles and still runs like a champ is a better car than the POS Nissan that i had. I CANT WAIT to get back to a honda or acura again!

So if anyone sees any 1st gen CL 5spd's for sale or another manual (cant stand automatic) acura/honda in good condition in the NY/NJ/PA/CONN area, LET ME KNOW!

(sorry for the long post, needed to rant a bit)

i wouldn't even consider those AT ALL! Im focused on copping another CL...i feel like i have unfinished business with the project i never got to finish with the last 1. The cars that im going to look at are in trenton and clayton NJ. Hopefully they'll be worth the trip, or atleast 1 of them will be.

And starboy let me know when that's a definite...i can't work on mights and maybes lol. It would be cool to get a CL with all those mods already on it though.

ok so ive basically narrowed down the field to a black CL and a titanium metallic (like the color in my avatar). the tan 1 is SUPER clean but the dealer would not even think about budging on price. The black 1 already has a lip on it and some axis rims (that rub in the back with 2 rear passenegers). Should i start with a clean platform and mod or get a head start with the lip and rims?

As for price, the TM one was 6500 and pretty firm on the price, and the black 1 was 7900 but i haggled the price down to like 6700 within 5 minutes. It was a young kid tryin to sell me the car and i just knew too much about it for him to handle, so he basically got raped lol.

It's really up to you, depends on if the rims are bent or any damage to them, the lip would be nice to already have, but you'd probably wanna redo that suspension, sounds to me

Does the black one have stock rims also? If not I'd go with the other ones, you can drive the black one in the snow and you know you get tons of snow at school.

during the testdrive the suspension on the black car was actually pretty solid n stable. Rode really well except for rubbing in the rear on bumps with people in the back. I think i would keep the suspension, id just want to change the rims out for stock 2.3 16's cuz i love the way they look. The car was in pretty damn good condition besides the clutch that was still in there from the day it came off the assembly line, and it would be nice to have a jumpstart on mods already. But if i did get the other car i already have a set of coilovers and a spoiler still to start with. And the tan 1 comes with the oh so illusive fog lights !!! hmmm decisions decisions

Platano as for driving in the snow i dont think it will be that much of an issue. Me and my frat brother used to drive his 98 eclipse gs-t that was lowered w/18's through the PSU snow all the time lol. all id need is some winter tires, thus the copping of the stock 16's.

97blackack, the rims were ok except for the center hub piece had scraping on them or peeling or something . Either way i didnt plan to keep the rims anyway and if i really did id get them powdercoated gold

AznX TL i dont really think it was beat on...it didnt have any performance mods just looks. And the kid himself never actually owned the car, he was just the salesman there at the dealership for the day
