Try pulling the spark plugs and cranking it over to get any water out. Trying to start it right after probably didn't help, though. Water isn't compressible so you may be looking at bent valves.
Let the car sit for a while to dry out. Pull the plugs and try cranking the engine while pumping the gas pedal. If you didn't suck up too much water it may take a while but it should start up after enough tries.

I would probably turn it over with a wrench once the plugs are out to get a lot of the water out. Going to be hard for the water to get out fast enough to avoid breaking more shit if you just hammer on it with the starter. Once no more comes out when you turn it over by hand, then use the starter.

I've been preaching this for years, a BV saved my engine back when I got caught in a hurricane/flood. Sorry to hear about your car baller, I would definitely let it sit and dry out with the spark plugs out as others have suggested.
I have let the car dry for a few days. Today, I tried to start it with the spark plugs out and it did not turn on. All I heard was a click, but it did not start. I put the plugs back on and no start.
Do you guys think the starter is shot ?

I hope so too...I hydro locked my mazda and I found a fist sized hole threw the back of my engine block...I decided to scrap the car (for $1000) and buy my TL-S...still have yet to put a CAI on it. Good luck to you!
my 07 TL has a cold air intake and i sucked up water at the end of my driveway and it died immediately. The car would not start. I ended up removing the intake, and shoved a vacuum hose down the throttle body for atleast an hour untill i could see or feel no more water. The car then started up after a hesitation and several start ups. This was almost a year ago, and the car is still driving fine.
I tried to start her up today, but no start. I gave the starter a good whack to see if it would start but to no avail. I'm gonna get my hands on a starter and see if that will get her up again. I wanna hear this engine ignite again.
It was slammed with an injen cai...ran into a flash flood and sucked water into the engine. Knew something was seriously wrong when they were putting it on the flatbed and could see oil coming out from the bottom...next morning at the shop they found the hole and could see everything busted to shit! That's worst case scenario and hopefully that's not the case for you...any luck yet?
