hydrolock?
hydrolock?
im about to order a CAI and i was just wondering..how much does it really take to hydrolock ur engine..my car is being lowered on neuspeed sport springs (1.75F 1.5R) as we speak. i live in jersey and sometimes it floods around here..not terribly but maybe a few inches every now and then..so is it safe to buy a CAI?

That's where I got mine.
i managed to hydrolock my prelude twice, it was lowered though. I've heard the bypass only works if the whole filter is submerged. makes sence to me. I'll never go back to a CAI again. If it happens dont try and restart. Just get the car off to the side, pull the spark plugs, and and start and watch the water squirt. Then let dry for hours and hours before you put the plugs back in and attempt a restart.

Hydro locking is a rare occurence, not that common. Also, once you put on a CAI, insurance will not cover hydro locking, at least Geico won't. I ran my CAI with no problems without a bypass. Never had a problem. If you see a very deep puddle, you wouldnt drive thru it with a CAI or not, so just go slow.

If you are turning your cl into a hovercraft and driving through puddles that deep, you can also just pull over, and pop your intake off of the throttle body, drive through, make sure there's no water in the intake, and then reattach, or just get home, and let your intake dry out, then reattach.
