How to remove small hose clamps in engine compartment?

So I was trying to install my auto tranny cooler this afternoon before seeing my girl, but had to abandon the project early.

In the following pic:

We're supposed to remove the tube on the right. Unfortunately, my tube doesn't have the 'screw in clamps' as pictured, but instead has the regular 'butterfly clamp' style like the tube on the left. This is a problem because I can't really get access with a set of pliers due to the cramped space...and even when I manage to, the pliers can't wrap around all 'three tabs' to get good leverage to slip the clamp down. I can only get traditional pliers to wrap around the 'big' tab and then one of the two little tabs on the right side. This is frustrating. Are there any special tools or tricks I can use to slip this thing off? I sprayed it with ample wd 40 and managed to slip the clamp down 'a bit,' but still not nearly enough to slip it off the metal hose.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

i used some adjustable pliers with a wide head, so it covered all three tabs and was easy to squeeze em loose

I bet one of those long vice grips with the long alligator looking head would work good too.

Did you take out the battery tray? That's the easiest way to get to them. We just used regular pliers

I just used needled nosed pliers. I put a hayden cooler on my car yesterday. It took longer than 30 minutes, but that was because I was looking for my hose clamp for an hour..I just resolved to using the pliers and it worked fine.
