I'm just curious on how much you people spent on installing your system? I'm talking about HU, Front Compnonets, rears and bypassing the amp.

I also went to Dustbuster4's uncle, he's in Pennsylvania and he owns his own shop. I am having him hook up my Jeep soon.
His installs are painless, economical and damn good!

this sounds realistic
my friends have a private stereo installation business
they charge bout 100 for basic sub amp hu.

who got the best deal?
i still think 100 is too pricey for a sub amp and headunit taht shouldnt be more than a 1 hour job in the CL. so taht would make it 100 dollars an hour NOT EVEN THE DEALER charges 100 an hour when they work on you car, so i would say 50+60 bucks is a good price

Best buy is the WORST place to get stereo installs....their techs know jack shit about audio or cars.... i have seen nothing but unprofessional installs and shortcuts taken in all my rich 'daddy's' money friends car...i have seen a couple where they cut the stock wiring...i was sickened....just do it yourself, if you have to call crutchfield and order their install kits or go to www.installdr.com either way do it yourself you know it will be done right the first time

I paid 120.. I had interior speakers installed. Mb quart q's in the front, and mb quart 6x9 reference in the back. The install was actually kinda hard, because the doors are so shallow. I installed the head unit, and amp in the trunk. SO pretty much all they did was put in 4 mids, 4 tweeteres, and run 14 gauge wire from the trunk to the speakers. I had to have customer eclosures mad for the doors, that are air tight, so the speakers would fit. I have always done stereo stuff myself, but didn't feel like going through the hassel of the front door speakers. Considering the whole process took them about 5-6 hours i think i got a good deal. I cant wait to have them finish my trunk, car will easily be competition worthy.

has anyone put the tweeters in the door panel, (cutting into it)? or are all tweeter mounting positions for everyone's install in the stock locations?

to put it in the door panel would be pretty hard. There really arn't any deep spots to the door panel, and would b very hard to get flush into the door unless you found some very thin tweeters, which ive never seen. Chris

Did everything myself. Actually I posted not too long ago about posting pictures I took of the entire install. I ran into a problem towards the end of the install. My sub amp blew. I'm now waiting for my new sub amp to arrive and then I can finish the install.
As soon as all of this is done, I'll be posting all the pictures I took of the entire install.
