Hoses that connect to inake pipe

I just installed the procarparts CAI on my '97 3.0 CL. Does anyone know if we need to connect both hoses to the intake pipe or can I just place a couple of breathers to plug the holes up? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you have to use both.........1 goes towrds the back of the engine 2nd goes in front replacing one of the black metal hose.

Does anyone know what the difference with the two are? Also what difference would it make if I didn't connect one or any of the hoses?

My guess is one is the PCV Hose and the other is the Breather Pipe. You need them both hooked up or you probably won't pass emissions inspection!
