Hm.. Rear caliper
Hm.. Rear caliper
Yesterday, i replaced my rear right caliper, and i cant figure out why my parking brake suddenly does not want to work, i triple checked last night, and even put in new brake pads hoping it would solve the problem. My parking brake goes up and the cable gets tight.. but the pads on the rotor does not hold.. anyone with help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
While you pull your handbrake, check if the spring on the rear caliper moves. That spring puts tension on the piston which compresses the pads on the discs. Often the caliper will seize... so even if the spring tries to compress it, it wont budge... If the spring doesn't move, the whole caliper might be seized OR you might need to adjust the cable itself. On our cars, the adjustment is done behind the parking brake handle itself, you need to take out the rear center console.
thanks for the help, the spring moves, i took off the caliper multiple times, triple checked the parking brake cable and connection, i just replaced the caliper with one out of the junkyard.... fresh car though.. the caliper was moving and in working order, i made sure i did this right i just cant figure it out, im thinking it must be seized, and im going to go attack the salvage yard.
and yes that is my car on cars.com we will see what happens, there may be another cl in the future.
