Hit & Run

I just bought my 97' 3.0 a few weeks ago with money I had saved up, which is hard to do since I'm in college. I'm waiting at a green light to turn and a guy blazes past 2 red lights and hits my entire front body off. Thank god it was only cosmetic damage. My baby is hurt and I feel lost. I had a witness riding shotgun with me and we chased down the guy until we got his license plate information. I filed a police report and they said they will contact him and "investigate" it. My insurance won't cover anything since I only have liability. What should i do? Should I replace the entire front of the body out-of-pocket and wait to see if they even catch this guy?

I want to cry. I love her.

Main reason why I roll with full coverage...

Pay it out of pocket and hope to get reimbursed.. The legal system could take some time..

full coverage is the way to go man.. i was in your position once.. full time college student. broke as fuck. driving to school one day with my 4dr integra and totaled it. had liability.. so didn't get covered. so i had to part out my whole entire car to get money back. got a CL and ever since then i got full coverage..

It's his fault. If he has insurance, they should pay for the repairs. Wait till you hear from the cops. Then go from there.

shoulda chased him until the cops caught up with you. My aunt did that to someone. but she was driving an astro van. Im pretty sure the 3.0's are a little faster and more agile than that haha

The good thing is I think he has insurance and I always read up about small claims court. Both options seem ok. I'll post some pictures in later tomorrow. Should i keep you guys updated as events unfold?

ouch man, suck really does....... I dunno if it falls under the same thing, but down here we had just liability on my Brother's Celica when it got rear-ended by some illegal, no license, no insurance... OK im gonna say it, Mexican... even though we just had liability the insurance covered us and got us the cash, the car was a write off (60MPH impact vs a Ford F-150, yeah, its totaled), im sure the only reason he didnt run is because he couldnt (it ended up as a 4 or 5 car collision, even multiple lanes as the little celica got knocked out across 2 other lanes into a Benz. . . yeah, kid is lucky to be alive.......... anyways yeah we got the money for the medical checkup that I took him to the hospital for after picking him up from the crash, and we got the cash for the car

that was kinda touchy though......... anyways, I hope it goes well for ya and I hope that everything gets solved, but one question, the way you worded it, it sounds alot worse than just cosmedic damage, but I guess pictures are coming and itll clear it all up

Here's some pics of the damage with an included explanation of the accident:

Point of impact was license plate- which was found 200 feet away in a forest.

Sometimes you just have to hate other drivers. In the first of March I was driving my Grand Prix and some lady pulled out in front of me and I hit her. Was her fault but it did about 2500 damage to the car. After 2 weeks of trying to get in touch with their insurance I find out they had been dropped from coverage since they didnt ever pay their bill. I contact my insurance and they wrote me a check minus the deductible.

Then just last week I got my new hood on the car and ran to the store one night in it, only to come out and see someone had backed into the car pretty hard. The hood had only been on the car 2 days. My brand new hood was crushed worse then the old one. It had to have been a truck that hit it because it missed the bumper completely. No one saw it happen and the people that hit it had left the scene so I will be paying for a new hood out of pocket this time. It wasnt painted so not really worth it to turn it in.

I know it sucks and hopefully everything turns out ok for you.

IM sorry but i have to point out that your little diagram shows the DOUCHE bag hit you on the drivers side but the pics show damage on the passenger. Unless you were driving in reverse.

Yes, the damage was on the passenger side because he only hit my license plate area. But since he hit me going 80+ it took off half my bumper, scary shit.
