HID Question
I like that HID lights can give extra visibility and the blueish temperature (6000k or 8000k I think?) kinda would look good with my car's color. My question is if I have to do anything "special" to my lights. I thought that I once read on this site that you have to retrofit projectors in the stock housings for the HIDs to do their job correctly. I really do not like the look of the projectors in the stock CL headlight housing. Can I just keep the reflector setup for HID low-beams or do I have to put in projector lenses? Thanks!

If you're going to be respectful of other drivers, projectors are the way to go. The problem is the way the reflector housing is designed for a standard bulb, not for an HID bulb...
That being said, I'm running HID's in my stock housings, but they're pointed at the ground to try to avoid blinding people...

CL in lawnmower status
^what matt said
and i run HID's in my stock housings, there are some hot spots... but they are way better than the stock lights in comparison... i run 4300k so basically white, with maybe a little blue
and as you said, projectors are the way to go, as they provide a definite cutoff line, and great uniform light output, just the cost/work and looks are not for everyone
here's what mine looks like

I wouldn't go over 6000K, that's what I have on both my cars and it's perfect, not too blue, not too white, I get so pissed when I see dark blue HID's on cars, looks like crap and they have no real light output, just color. I have a set of 6000K pnp HID's for sale, pm me if you're interested.

what type of bulb should we get if we are going to use the stock housing? are they H1,H10 or what? or does it matter? Oh yeah I have a 97 CL. The car I have already has the conversion kit in it (cheapo ebay kit it looks like) but the bulbs are blue blue and I hate them and want to change to something more white

put the HID's in your stock housings. Don't even touch the headlight adjustment.
If your blinding people with HID's, your not low enough. Go lower

Low and Slow
You can get a good plug and play kit just about anywhere for a good price, and there are plenty out there that have good warranties to go along with them.
I've got a 5000k kit on my cl.

The 5000k bulbs from HIDExtra are absolutely perfect as far as color. Zero yellowness, maybe 1% blue. 99% crisp white. Exactly what I wanted, exactly what I got.
Note that different brands will differ between colors. A 6000k from one place may look just like a 8000k from another. It shouldn't be that way in theory, but shitty manufacturing standards lead to this variation.

Search "HIDxtra" and there's a topic that says reviews or something and it's the official topic for the company. There's a customer service agent in there who posts almost regularly with updated codes.

Just put a 6k kit from HIDextra on my car and am very impressed. Looks like good quality and for the $60 and free shipping how could anyone go wrong. Made sure I adjusted my lights even and a bit lower than they were and I see everything, even in rain. Haven't had anyone flash their brights at me yet in a week of use. So far
