HID kit, bulbs, and LED?

I want to hook up my ride with a 6000k HID kit. I know subbuz has a sweet setup and was wondering what bulbs/leds and what kind of kit he has. and also where i should get them from.

i found these on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-X...043829025QQrdZ

The kit is a good price, but ebay scares me sometimes

Kaixen seems over-priced, but let me know what you guys think.

PS : is an hid kit for high or low beems, or both. Pretty sure some come with hi/lo.

i think you need to do some research before you go out and buy an HID kit or rebased bulbs or whatever. That ebay kit seems to be some no name kit. the kit part just means that it comes with the bulb, ballast, and simple wire harness altogether as opposed to piecing the pieces together yourself. Our lows are 9006, our highs are 9007.

go check out the forums at ww.hidplanet.com and do some research, wouldnt want you wasting you money on some crap product.

sorry yea i meant 9005. our cars are not bi-xenon equiped. if you're set on getting a kit. a quality brand it philips, but they can be pretty expensive (~$400ish) for a kit. some people here seem to really like kaixens. Or you could piece together your own kit for about the same price. search for "9006 d2s" on ebay and you'll find a bunch of ppl selling rebased 9006 bulbs with some quality brand ballasts (hella, philips, etc) like i said just make sure you read up on reviews and what not, to make sure youre buying something that wont blow out on you.

Get kaixen, a vendor on here just got a big shipment in. They're a good quality kit and come with a warranty, most ebay kits don't. I'm pickin up a set of these for my 4runner

I got a set of Visiontek (i think thats what they call) from a GB on BMW forum for $200 shipped within the same week. Funny thing was they were using the same picture as what the Kaixen's ads. Tho its not Phillip or Kaixen, it pretty damn good and i cant compare them to those other brand cuz i haven't seen Phillip or Kaixen kit in action yet. but it actually out perform a lot of Benz and Bimmer i pull up next too. After installing my kit and aimming it down...the headlight cover all 4 lanes on the highway and very good distant.

Like everyone said you get what you pay for. Despite the fact that KAIXEN is a great product with the highest quality, I just want to give you a local experience to assure you of their customer service/warranty too (non-existent on ebay kits). I have a local customer with a KAIXEN 9006 kit who installed the kit himself, which is fine b/c everything is plug n play. His friend drilled some holes into his headlight for strobes but made the hole too large. They didn't plug the hole. For a couple months he ran the kit with water in the headlight and severe fogging. Everything held up on the kit until after a couple months the ballast became defective (mind you the bulb is still good) due to water/humidity affecting the ballast. This is the first warranty issue I've had yet in selling these kits but it was, IMO, due to user error and negligence. However, I swapped ballasts to verify the problem and it was the ballast and I called KAIXEN for a warranty claim. The ballast was on its way to me the next day without any sort of problem. I didn't even have to mail them back the old one. Now that is customer service!!!

Yes the ballasts are weatherproof. I run mine with a vented hood. Heavy humidity is what kills ballasts or any electronics in general, stock or aftermarket. In the US it really isn't a problem except in some parts of Texas.

And I do think the holes the customer drilled were the problem. I have a feeling the water got onto the bulb and caused some sort of surge in the ballast.
