Question HID Conversion Kit Question ?

I just ordered a HID Conversion Kit from HIDExtra. I ordered the 9006-6000K HID kit. I have a 1998 Acura 2.3 CL and I was wondering do I need a Universal HID Relay Harness?

Not only is it a good idea for the safety of your wiring, it is probably better for the components and the output. I don't have any data to back that up though

I've read about people getting relay harnesses just for their stock halogens. Supposedly the direct line of juice improves the output.
But yeah, because your oem wiring wasn't meant for the draw the ballasts need on startup, a relay is a good idea. Another 15 bucks to give you security against frying your whole wiring is worth it IMO. But as has been said, many people run PnP kits for a long time without the relay and without problems. Others do fry their shit. I figure why risk it?
And yes, I am using a relay harness too!

Diplomat, you ordering highs too or just the lows? The 9006 Kit is just for lows, both of our bulbs are single beam, so they require 2 seperate kits. Kinda sucks. Post pics when your done. I'm bout to order some 6K's from HIDXtra as well.

I ordered low beams I believe...Can I still order a high beam kit at a separate time and get it installed later?

I'll second that...unless you live where you'll use your high beams quite often, you don't need them. Besides, HIDs require a start-up or "warm-up" time and this would totally defeat the purpose of having "instant on" high beams.

If you hit bambi, your insurance will cover it because it's part of your liability. At least mine does...

That'd be nice, my bumper is goin to shit anyways and doesn't seem to be fitting right. I got so many rock chips and when I bought it, it had this deep ass scratch on both sides like under and above the corners. If i get a WW Lip, I think I can cover some chips and like 2 deep scratches lol.

What wattage is the kit? They recommend the relay harness with 55w kits, but not the 35w ones.

Why does that suck you can order 2 kits for cheaper than you can get a bixenon kit for. Well not sure what the hidextra price is but from my supplier I can.

I live out in the middle of nowhere in the Arkansas Ozarks and I use high beams all the time. I don't have HID high beams and I actually prefer it that way because I don't have to worry about just one coming on or having to wait while they warm up when cold. Maybe I'm weird but I think the OEM color and the HID super white look kind of cool together too. Two-tone headlights I also think it's easier to see the broader spectrum of light the two different temperatures of bulb provide. Visibility might actually be better than if both high and low beams were the same color? Someone should do a study lol.
