Hey, I've been reading threads here and there on these forums and decided, hell why don't I go ahead and register and say hi. I bought a 1997 CL Auto about 3-4? months ago and it has 110k miles on it now.

At first I was kinda eh about it since I had been looking for a Ford or something like it but decided on this because my brother's friend decided to let me buy it without it hitting the floor on the used car lot, so it came real cheap to me. And after a week or 2 of driving I fell in love with it. I see all my friends with 2002+ mustangs and countless of problems are popping up, and my car runs perfectly. Even though I've learned that I should start eyeing that transmission for problems soon. The ABS light is the only problem I've had since it's been on since I bought it but my brother (a mechanic) told me not to worry about it.

I'm currently looking for a job, thats the only thing keeping me from pouring money into this car to make it nicer. (cough stock rims cough).

Oh btw you guys wouldn't happen to know someone who got a 97 red cl repo'd from them in Miami would you? , actually judging from the stuff the previous owner left in my glovebox, he's probably dead or in jail. Scary stuff considering he lives or use to live pretty close by...

 

oh btw, so far all i've done to the car is remove some setup the previous owner had with 2 really crappy speakers in the trunk and all the lines running from the trunk to the fuse that was connected to the battery, theres still one bolt thats apparently grounding everything under the spare tire that i can't seem to remove.

oo sorry, its a 3.0. I'll see if I can get pics tomorrow, except the right side of the car has a pretty ugly dent right behind the door . The paint job is also going south and whoever debadged the trunk did a horrible job and apparently pulled off some paint in the process, I've tried to remove the weird residue it has around it but I'm better off waiting till I can fix the dent, remove the stripe accents from the sides of the car, and do a new paint job. I'm loving the red color but I saw a black CL in someone's avatar and couldn't help but start drooling. Besides, red attracts cops . and I don't need them ticketing me for my 5% tints.

i forgot exactly everything, but i remember vividly a letter to some judge saying something along the lines of "help me, these guys think i'm an undercover cop and they are going to kill me, seriously kill me." and there was some papers that had to do with his bank account and more court stuff. i don't know where it is now, i think i threw it away.

why? it's not like i live on the corner of 40th and 87th. And if anyone wants to search every block in like a 10 mile radius for a red cl then kudos to them.

and i looked at that older miami meet thread and his cl looks a lot like mine, but if anything hes the original original owner not the kid that left all that stuff in my glovebox.

if you guys know any quick fixes for like the picture of that crap on the hood, let me know too, if it just needs like a little rubbing to get off. Anything helps before I save up enough for the body work and the paintjob.

 

that on your hood almost looks like superglue, in which case i can get it off for you. id have to see it in person to get a better look, it could be something worse though, as the paint looks black around it.

 

i uploaded a couple more and i think i've gotten a picture of every single little thing I need to fix eventually on my car.

and as far as the hood is concerned, the paint looks fine. i'll see if i can get a better picture of it tomorrow.

 

whitish smoke from behind the engine and possible broken fuel gauge will be looked at on saturday
