Hey anyone know what this sound indicates?

Hey everyone,

I'm getting a squeeking sound on the front driver side, it happens everytime I go over a bump, I'm not sure what it is, any idea's, and if so how much will it cost to get fixed? I push on the front bumper when the car was parked and shut off and I could here the squeeking sound, but it's much like when the car is driver, rather embarassing really, any help guys?

I would suspect the stablizer bar (anti-sway bar to some) bushings are the cause. They get dry w/ age and when you go over a bump the bar twists in the rubber bushing. You can loose the bushing support bracket (one on each side) and force white grease into the bushing to eliminate the squeak.

If you lay on the ground, put your hand on the bushing, and have someone push the suspension up/down you should be able to feel/ hear the squeak from the bushing to confirm the source of the noise.

good luck

My right rear makes that noise when I hit a hard bump... STRUTS should solve your problem.

Yep ball joints are usually the cause. If your strut is bad you would notice your car boucning every wherer when u do hit a bump
