Help! window doesn't roll up!!!!
this sucks guys.
i searched for this topic... and only found one thread that discussed window problems.
on saturday, we rolled down the window to access the electronic security gate... then the window wouldn't roll up again!
now it's stuck!
i could hear the motor running.... almost a scratching noise.
i took it to my mechanic yesterday.... he was able to pull up the cable... so he thinks that it's cut.
since we could hear the motor, i assume that safe and still working. could it be the arm too?
acura is so busy this week... there's no way to get it fixed fast enough. and we no longer have my other car... so it's tough to rely on just one car.
any ideas would be appreciated!
how much would you guys think it will or should cost???
by the way, it's a '98 2.3 cl... driver's side window.
now it's saran wrapped and taped.... ghetto style!
also.... we just got engaged on friday night!
what a surprise for us the morning after with our cl!:P
thanks guys!

Most likely it is the regulator in the window...thats one of the only problems that i've ever had with my window...it cost $260 to get fixed unless covered by warranty...

oh great.... just when we're now broke.... things like this happen.
i hope it's no more than $260.
don't mind me, but how many components are there in the window assembly?
motor, regulator, actuator, control arm, cable??????
i'm dropping the car off to my mechanic tomorrow....
i'm afraid to find out what's the damage.

that was extremely helpful....
much appreciated.
when the mechanic lets me know what needs to be replaced, i can double check with the prices on this site.

???
ok guys...
the mechanic tells me that the motor is fine...
but to replace the regulator.... it's an entire assembly that needs to be replaced.
that means the motor would also be replaced???
what the hell?
he's quoting me $347 which is parts and labor?
isn't that too high????
i thought it would be better not to go to an acura dealer....
i'll have to check.
this definitely sucks.

I say, buy the regulator and do it yourself. Or take it somewhere else and have them look at it, that's fuckin alot of money!

if only i had the time!
it's raining mad here today and for the rest of this week.
unfortunately, we're at the mercy of the weather and busy weekend with all the dealerships and garages.
they're estimating labor is around 2 hours at $70/hr.
so would parts be around $200??
the regulator is definitely shot.
plus the cable that connects to the motor is cut.
the motor is fine....
he's claiming that the entire assembly needs to be replaced
as a single unit.
i wish i was there to see it for myself.... i'm about 50 miles away.
i'm in manhattan trying to dry off from this morning's crazy rain.

driving around with a saran wrapped window is not comforting.

see i'm not believing that the whole unit needs to be replaced. The dealer can be a bunch of idiots. I tried to get the fog light switch from them and they said i needed the fog lights too. I went on the net and found a place to sell me just the switch. And as you can see, that sight that person gave you sells individual parts for the window.

Re: Help! window doesn't roll up!!!!
Sup yo, it is the regulator guaranteed...the exact same thing happened to me last week....thank god it wasn't getting ready to rain! The closest dealership to me is either 1 hour or 2 1/2 hours away, so i opted to take it there and crash @ my parents place....luckily they had the part available, so i got in and out in 2 hours.
It's an acura part, so it's going to cost an assload.....i dunno how much exactly cuz my car is still certified pre-owned....

A way to possibly prevent this from happening again is to periodically spray some silicone lube on the track the window rolls up on.....if ya live in a humid/hot environment, it can take some toll on your windows.....if ya notice your window isn't going up as fast, LUBE!!!! My windows go up much smoother now....
