help me with woodgrain PLEASE

Ok I got the door pieces and the main piece off but I'm having trouble with the Moonroof piece. I followed someone's tuturial and they said to take off the air vent because it would be easier to unscrew the woodgrain piece. I was just wondering if the air vent just popped out if I used a screw driver. I don't want to break the air vent. Thanks.

no the vent is held in place by one of those sliding tab. u just have to pull it out. u can try putting a flat head screw drive in on the side and push the tab.

Rather than a flat head screw driver, you might want to use a tool called a plastic scirbe. I use it for prying the little plastic parts off of computers to uncover screws and push in tabs. Just take your time and becarefull. Interior plastic is fragile.

ok so I took the plunge and got all the woodgrain out.. now i plan on painting it... I'm going to paint it black, but is there some special paint anyone recommends since it is plastic... i don't want a shine to the paint so i'll either spray a matte finish on it or hopefully the spray paint I get will be good enough.

i previously had black suede (whatever looks like cheap leather) on and it looked nice but it started to come apart... i was thinking painting it black if done right would be the solution to my problem.. i know it comes with a lot of risks ie the paint better be perfect, but hopefully it will all turn out well... i plan on painting it tomorrow so hopefully it'll be in my car tomorrow night

I have a spare set of door panels. That actually was only cracked at the top from when I replaced my window regulator, but taking my door panels out for the speakers, we had a little fun destroying the rest of it, cuz it was already cracked and started breaking. No worries, I had a whole spare set. Like saiko said, I'm scared of the center piece, I gotta take that out to wrap it

I'm just curious why you guys want to wrap your wood? I thought the wood was part of the interior that makes the CL . If anything, I'd love to see someone do it with real wood. I mean, these wraps and paints make the car look like a Eclipse or a Cobolt, CHEAP.

And CF on those pannels looks way too Unless the theme is completed with racing seats and a gutted interior. I mean, do you want a car or a ride?

Just my two pennies worth.

I'm redoing mine, because I'm redoing my whole interior and exterior like you said aj, I love the wood in our cars, it just sticks out from everything else that I'm doin.

UPDATE: I finished painting all 4 pieces today... they look amazing... i hope pictures do them justice, but I'm waiting on the camera batteries to charge.. I'll def. have pictures up tonight... the pieces aren't in my car until tomorrow though to ensure them being dried!

Honestly I think it looks 100 times better than the black vinyl I had in my car, it just looks so clean

i have the dark grey interior...i know i was questioning painting them black, but when I had black vinyl in everyone liked it so I figured black paint would look better... I was thinking of silver only because I have a silver dash kit installed which could have looked very nice with silver woodgrain accents, but you'll see in pics and judge for yourself.. maybe over the summer if i get bored I will paint them silver or something else, it really isn't that hard to do!
