depends on where you live, most places i would assume your 8000k bulbs are illegal, just like where i live your headlights/driving lights have to be white, whereas mostly anything but 4300k isn't white in color
but if you want to use foglights for what they are intended for i'd suggest getting 3000k HID bulbs in a clear for light housing. They will produce a yellow color, which is the most usefull in foggy or other low visibility conditions
but you're probably not buying them to see in those conditions, so just put whatever bulbs you want in there

Driving Lights - Shoot out a long, narrow beam. They will blind you in the fog just like high beams.
Fog Lights - Short, wide, low to ground beam.
Road Lamps - I might be wrong, but I believe this is an Acura-only thing. Roadlamps have 194 bulbs in them - last time I checked they don't do shit for helping you see.
Sport lamps - Don't know where you got that from.

I think the best fogs are small and discrete - can't hardly see them in the day time, but bright as hell at night. I had a set of projectors from Hella that were nice. Depo makes OEM replacements for Accords, Civics, etc that can be custom fit, that's what I have now but they're not installed yet. If you get something small and round, you can fit them in the bumper grill and they're almost completely hidden.

No, they're not all the same. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't open your mouth.

^ and the best part is that is actually functional, but i guess it's an aquired taste, probably just like wagons or roof racks
OP: can you post day pics of the fogs, and which ones did you end up getting? link if possible

Chill bro, no need to be hasty. That's how the Honda guy explained it when we picked up out '08 Ody and asked what the difference between driving lights, fog lights, road lamps, and sport lamps were. BTW, sport lamps is what he called them. Either you are wrong or the Honda guy is. I guess he just didn't feel like explaining?
I think I'd trust PIAA over a dealer. http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/LampSelectionGuide.html

if you pull up the button where the fogs should be, there's a plug plugged into the back of it
