Hey guys. I have a 97 Acura 3.0 cl... I will be driving and the car jsut shuts off. Went to a local mechanic and he said that he changed the fuel pump relay... And still it just decides to shut offf. Starting to get pissed off and just thinking of trading it in to acura... does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?? Thanks

could be clogged fuel filter... does it starve before it dies or does it just cut off like you turned the key off?

does it sputter, do the lights dim? Could be your alternator, or the ignition's crapped out, or the fuel pump itself is not pushing through, or like willp said, could be fuel flter.

inside your distributor is a icm ignition control module. if this is bad it will usually not run at all but if its too heat sensitive it will cut off. have you tried to replace the ignition coil.? theres so many things that can cause that.. does it start right up after it dies? if so check for a vacume leak. are you going a constant speed when it dies or are you slowing down or just lettin off the gas.

Hey, just a thought... There is a recal on the ignition switch for our cars for that reason. The engine may shut off while driving. That is a defect. You should check to see if your car has had the retrofit done. Again, just a thought.

I had the same problem. You need to take your car into Acura dealership as soon as possible. There is a recall on the ignition switch. I was driving on the interstate doing like 90 in traffic and my car just died. Was not fun!!!!!!!!!

There is a website to check if the recall was done by entering the VIN. Couldn't find it on a quick search.
