Helix Power tower install

hey guys, I just got my Helix power tower from Proaudio (thanks!) and I tried installing it earlier today but ran into ONE problem.

I removed everything as per dustbuster's instructions from a post almost 2 year's ago, but confused one one thing. He says to remove the top two bolts that are sticking out of the manifold, to "rethread the nuts onto the bolts and 'torque them so that the bolt spins with the nut' ".

not exactly sure how to do this. I don't have anything to "torque something" with. Nor have I ever "torqued" anything before. can someone give me a little more detail as to how to remove these? and do I insert the 2 new bolts in the same manner as the old two?

thanks!

it sounds like he's saying to keep tightening the nut til the stud starts to loosten, which would mean that its reverse thereaded. (lefty tighten and rightey loosten) which is often the case with block studs.

but don't bolts usually have a larger head diameter? I'm trying to picture it coming out, but.....and then afterwards, I would insert the bolt with the head in first, like the old bolt?

Hey man! I was gonna drop you an email to see if you got it ok, but I ended up being out with work till today.

Lemme read that thread and I'll see if I can figure it out. I believe the idea is to put TWO nuts on the bolt, and tighten them onto each other, then you can twist the inside nut like it was the head of a bolt and it'll press into the other nut and cause them to tighten more and the all thread bolt will start to spin.

Yes:

A trick to doing this is to rethread the 2 nuts you took off, torquing them enough so that the stud begins to spin with the nut. When you reverse the ratchet, both the nut and stud come right out of the intake manifold!
Thread one nut onto the stud about 1/2", then thread the second nut onto it. Tighten them into each other, and then you should be able to use a wrench to twist the whole thing out.

No, just put it in like a normal bolt. No idea why honda used studs (all thread) on the top two and not the bottom two.

yeah but it worked so nicely! The only problem I had was when I put the two nuts on and tightened, to "reverse" the stud, the inside nut got stuck so Ram had to go to the store for me and buy some more 12mm nuts. So if you get this, I recommend buying a few extra nuts before install. They may get stuck on the studs, or you may drop them into the engine bay like I did.
